Report: Cyberpunk 2077 will be Released Some Time in 2018 #Cyberpunk2077

PCGamesN has the story.

Quote:
It's looking likely that CD Projekt's big sci-fi RPG, Cyberpunk 2077, will release some time in 2018, according to some information on the studio's Polish investor forums.

CD Projekt have already said they're planning to release two triple-A RPGs between 2016-2021, and now they've confirmed on the forums that Cyberpunk 2077 will be the first to come out, which makes sense, since it's the only one they've released any information on.

The studio also said that work won't begin on the second RPG until they've wrapped up Cyberpunk.

Now, The Witcher 3 took three-and-a-half years to develop, so chances are development time will be similar for both Cyberpunk and the unannounced game. Work on upgrading their game engine for Cyberpunk began around the release of The Witcher 3, so we're probably looking at the sci-fi RPG coming up to the halfway point in its development.
Read on.

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that whatever the release date is right now will be pushed back at least twice before we see the game. Not bad mouthing CDP, they are great people, but that's just the way it works these days.

I'd be surprised if this comes out in 2018. I'll be getting it whenever it comes out though.

I'm just going to go ahead and request a preorder at this time please.. Might as well be now, or 2018, or 2077 because I will pretty much throw money at CDP and whatever they create.

I think 2018 will be a perfect time. 2017 is going to be a full year, already.

Have we learned nothing from No Man's Sky? >_>

Well, I guess these guys have a bit more of an actual history of delivering than Hello Games.

FFS as if No Man's Sky is the first game to fail on promises, wake up.

Well you're right, of course, that other games have failed to live up to expectations. But I would imagine that everyone would agree that No Man's Sky is the biggest "let down" in recent memory, if not ever. Whether the people let down by the game are idiots or not is up for debate, but if one was going to make a case-in-point, it would be No Man's Sky.

Hello Games has a great history of delivering. The Joe Danger games were all rock solid and fun when they came out. They just got a little too ambitious for their team size.

I had an intuition about "No mans sky" that it wouldn't live up to expectations. I remembered the Atari games and PC games in the 70's and 80's. I used to look at the box cover art and think this was the representation of the game. If Hello Games pulled this off then they would have moved gaming forward. They made an effort and I commend them but they should have been more transparent regarding the game.

Joe Danger is also nothing like the game they were attempting, NMS, whereas this game is right in line with their previously-delivered games.

So the concept artist MACIEJ KUCIARA has created pretty much every Cyperpunk 2077 concept piece that we've seen so far, so if you want a glimpse at more art in the same wheelhouse checkout his portfolio. https://www.artstation.com/artist/maciej
