Fallout 4: Far Harbor Review #Fallout4

PC Gamer has posted a review of the Far Harbor DLC for Bethesda Game Studios' post-apocalyptic RPG, Fallout 4. It received a score of 80/100.

Quote:
The island itself is perfectly enjoyable to explore: gloomy, marshy, shrouded in mist and prone to radiation storms. It’s a spooky and atmospheric setting, weird and evocative even in broad daylight. It’s not that heavily dotted with locations, but there’s enough exploring, combat, and mission running to keep most players busy for 20-plus hours. There are also plenty of raiders (here they’re called trappers), supermutants, ghouls, and some new weapons to kill them with, such as a harpoon gun and a lovely giant hammer equipped with an afterburner to help you swing its radioactive head. There’s also a new companion in the form of a grizzled and salty old coot, and a few new settlements to build (if you haven’t already had enough).

Far Harbor is a bit pricey but worth it for those looking for a good amount of new content and a real departure in setting. More dialogue-based resolutions are also welcome: I feel like I did more talking, and likewise more listening, than in Fallout 4 itself.

Has anyone downloaded this? Any new weapons? All I see is so one bashing stuff with a pruning hook.

There is a pump action rifle and a harpoon. The seal/marine armored suit looks cool.

There's a new harpoon gun, a few new rad-guns and some new melee stuff with a maritime theme (hooks, poles with hooks). There were also some unique weapons I came across which were new to me but...hard to judge if they're part of Far Harbor.

Overall I had the most fun with this dlc from a questing stand point. New exploration was pretty good. New monsters were okay, but it was the quests and the writing that really stood out to me as being a step up from vanilla Fallout 4.

The harpoon gun is ridiculously badass. Plus, it appears that you can actually loot the harpoon you used off of dead enemies from time to time; it doesn't always seem to happen, but I've kept my ammo count pretty high.

It might be just a coincidence, though...but I hadn't looted a single harpoon off of enemies until I started using the harpoon gun.
