It appears that Nintendo has nerfed the controversial "fire-hopping" technique for Mario Kart 8's upcoming Deluxe version for Nintendo Switch.
The video below from GameXplain (via Eurogamer) appears to show that fire-hopping, a technique that lets you extend a power slide boost, is significantly less effective in Deluxe. It may even slow you down, the video explains through a comparison to the Wii U version. This is not 100 percent definitive proof that fire-hopping, or whatever else you might call it, has been nerfed, but the video is compelling.
Now someone needs to fix roll cancelling in Capcom vs. SNK 2 and nerf the fuck out of Armor Ralf. Hold on... yep, level 3 Phoenix FUCK! I highly doubt WOTC playtests a goddamn thing at this point. Sometimes I am uncertain they even read it, as this is the company that created both Planar Shepard and Truenamer to exist in the same game. Meanwhile, Final Fantasy VI can effectively be beaten with the use of the same two-spell combo in almost every fight. Players will always find the tech, especially if the creators didn't intend it. If Mario Kart is getting a few fixes, I am sure its community will find the next stupidity to gain an edge because, at high skill levels, its always just a game of inches.
