Guns Akimbo Trailer

Quote:
Nerdy video game developer (Daniel Radcliffe) is a little too fond of stirring things up on the internet with his caustic, prodding, and antagonizing comments. One night, he makes the mistake of drunkenly dropping an inflammatory barb on a broadcast of Skizm, an illegal death-match fight club streamed live to the public. In response, Riktor (Ned Dennehy), the maniacal mastermind behind the channel, decides to force Miles' hand (or hands, as it were) and have him join the "fun." Miles wakes to find heavy pistols bolted into his bones, and learns Nix (Samara Weaving), the trigger-happy star of Skizm, is his first opponent.

Gleefully echoing elements of Edgar Wright's Scott Pilgrim vs. the World, the Purge franchise, and videogames like Mortal Kombat, Guns Akimbo is hilariously dark, viciously violent, and potentially chillingly prescient. Director Jason Lei Howden (Deathgasm) foretells of a future that may soon await us: drone-captured live feeds, UFC-like competitions pushed to an extreme, and online streaming platforms used for gladiatorial entertainment all around the world. As Miles navigates the underworld of Skizm, the stakes and the ratings have never been higher.

Instead of killing one another, they fall in love and take out the mastermind together. There. There's your ending. Now you don't need to see the movie.

I watched the trailer, I have the feeling I already saw the movie.

(In Rhys Darby's voice) It's not the destination mate! It's the journey.

This looks like everything I currently hate about pop culture.
The jokes are Hellboy-reboot bad, the special effects and characters are just rehashes of Wanted but all of the previous are much uglier.
Game over man, game over.

I would actually go see this. Radcliff was fantastic in Swiss Army Man and while this doesn't seem to cover any new ground, it looks like it could be worth a viewing.

Plus Samara Weaving was excellent in Ready or Not.

Looks terrible. And the whole "girl licking the gun" thing isn't edgy. It's just stupid.

Jesus people, you guys are some serious film critics in here. Gotta be Casablanca or Citizen Kane or bust eh? Unless it's a MCU film of course. Those are exquisite high cinema, eh?

Just messing with ya for the most part. But this looks like an entertaining way to spend 90 minutes. I don't need everything to be a deep, life-changing arthouse flick. I still like fun, dumb action movies, that don't try to push political agendas. For some reason this feels a bit like Demolition Man, with the violence, blood, and shallow but fun comedy.

Also I like Samara Weaving.

Citizen Cane is OK but it's no Armageddon.

I want to, but in Ready or Not her boobs were already positioned damn near her belly button. Not attractive for someone with otherwise small boobs!

Yes, I am that shallow.

Yes, Yes they are!

I'll probably see this one and Free Guy, even though they are only B-Movies.

The only thing I could think of upon seeing this was "What happens when he has to pee?"

Haha, must have been that dress, because from what I've seen that isn't a problem (yet).

Its not so much the film as the constant digs from the film industry at the Games industry. "I wanted to be somebody, a hero, instead I'm a game developer nobody".

Maybe I'm being sensitive and just triggered from actually dealing with the people behind these films and their shitty attitudes.

I think the fact that some of us (myself included) have enjoyed some MCU movies show you just how low our standards are. And yet a lot of these movies still look bad.
