The Lighthouse was pretty disappointing. Art house film that chooses style over substance. The decision to make it full frame was just dumb, would you really have wanted to sit through that in a theater? And it looks even worse on the small screen with giant black bars on the edge of the whole movie.

The performances were decent, nothing special one way or the other. It's only redeeming quality at all was it tries to answer the question "Where is the mermaid vagina?" Cute, but hardly something to base an entire movie around.

After hearing how awesome it was online for the last six months, I was really disappointed.

Looking forward to seeing what normal people think of 1917. The media hasn't been glowing saying the "one take" thing a one-trick pony and story was sacrificed to make it happen. And it isn't really, truly, all one take. But I don't really trust them these days.

The rest of the releases are meh. Nothing that drives me even to check out the trailers.

It's kind of impossible for a movie to really be one-take, since the second a horse takes a dump in the middle of filming the scene would get ruined. I read them talking about having to re-shoot scenes because of little things that would get missed or someone would trip, etc.

Making it look like one continuous scene sounds really awesome. The only thing that the one-take thing makes impossible is that they are really going to be missing the air-to-air combat scenes that are the bread and butter of WWI films.

Russian Ark is the only movie I've seen that was legitimately shot in one take. Timecode is another, but I haven't seen it. There have been a handful of others, but most of them are foreign films.

They're doable, but something on the scale of 1917 wouldn't really work.

Not only that, but I BOUGHT it..... thinking it would be as good The Witch. Nope. Then again, it did not star the delicious Anya Taylor Joy.

Finally watched The Lighthouse. Of course it's not for everyone but I thought it was fantastic. Definitely a film that takes several viewings.

Jeez Evil... if that's what you got out of this film then you have clearly rotted your brain with a decade plus of "men in tights" movies.
