Save Humanity from Extinction in Genesis: Alpha One
Click on the Headline for the Trailer.
Quote:
Genesis: Alpha One is a revolutionary mix of roguelike, FPS, base building and survival that puts you in the role of an interstellar pioneer.
As the Captain of a Genesis starship, you journey into uncharted space on the ultimate mission: find new homes for humanity’s DNA and save the species from extinction. To do this you will need to build and manage your spaceship, discover planets and harvest resources from them, clone new crew members, and create new lifeforms to populate new worlds… and of course defend yourself from terrifying alien infestations on your ship! Nobody said saving humanity would be easy.
We are really excited to share with you today that while exploring the universe you will not be confined to the starship that you call home, but will be able to take your harvester down to planets that you discover on your travels.
When you touch down on these previously undiscovered planets your trusty crew of clones will set about mining for resources that you need to expand your ship. You can either help them out or explore for artifacts, new weapons, blueprints and transmissions all of which will help you in your quest. You may also have to defend yourself and your crew from any hostile alien life forms that populate the planet. Be careful not to take back any unwanted passengers back to your starship!
We would love to hear what you think about Genesis, and we look forward to showing you more about the game between now and launch later this year!

I remember a game called No Man's Sky which was gunna have this massive, expansive, organic, player driven experience with super cool graphics and stuff.
Then Hello Games released a big pile of poop. While I like the look of this game I'm thinking "Nope, sounds too good to be true."
++ to the Coop though.

Woah, wait...this is a Team17 game? Color me impressed.
I had seen some screenshots and read a little in passing, but I never paid enough attention to who was developing it. This looks like it as a ton of potential. I really like how the "lives" system is just the number of cloned crewmembers onboard the ship. Every time you die, a new crewmember is promoted to Captain and you play as them, instead.

It's not technically Team17. "Genesis: Alpha One" is developed by a new Southern-German team called "Radiation Blue". It's definitely a very ambitious game, but if the very first scene I'm seeing in an official trailer suffers from a low frame rate, I'm starting to have my doubts...
