Take a gander at the impressive one-man project, Lost Soul Aside #LostSoulAside

Dual Shockers has the story:

Quote:
At times games inspire us to create. Some write stories, other draw beautiful art, and then there are some that create their own games, often with very interesting results.

This is is one of those cases. Korean indie developer Yang Bing saw a trailer of Final Fantasy XV two years ago, and felt so inspired that he started to work on his own game, Lost Soul Aside. The game also draw inspiration from the Ninja Gaiden series, and for a solo project, it looks gorgeous...

Personally, it’s hard not to be impressed, even considering that creating what you can see below took two years in Unreal Engine 4, the results Yang Bing managed to achieve alone are amazing.

According to the creator, the game “is far from complete,” and at the moment he doesn’t know which platforms it’ll be released on. Yet, we’ll certainly keep an eye on this one, and so should you.

it's too easy to criticize and I don't feel like picking apart someone's passion today, congrats to him for making something awesome.

That being said, it's an amazing time we live in where something as powerful the unreal 4 engine is free/dirt cheap and so easy to use that anyone can pick it up and make something of this caliber.

Clearly a talented guy. Many people will enjoy the clear connections between the visuals and gameplay/combat of this title and recent Final Fantasy titles. Unfortunately, I'm not one of them. Haven't liked a FF game since the single-digit-era.

Still, quite talented. Wish him the best in seeing it through to a retail release!

It's hilarious that it looks EXACTLY like Final Fantasy XV. It's hysterical that he was like "I want to play that game! What? It's not coming out for 3 years? Engh... I'll just make my own."

It's a different kind of project, but this reminds me of when Monty Oum first hit the scene with Haloid, especially the fighting. Such an early look at a project means it's obviously still rough around the edges (ex: some bland terrain and empty areas), but you can see how much effort and passion he's put into this already.

The most impressive thing, aside from the fighting animations, is the diversity of the world, he's got deserts, forests, cities, plains, and even otherworldly realms. Not sure how it all fits together or if it's just a tech demo of sorts, but it could make for quite a unique experience.

Certainly an interesting project to keep track of.

The hilarious part is that the combat in this looks way better than FFXV.

I also have trouble believing one guy did this unless he's an actual savant who enjoys spending 16 hour days doing nothing but making games for the last 10 years, and it's not impossible that such a person exists, after all that's basically what Notch was with Minecraft.

Not even merely indie, solo. That's nuts.

Yeah, I mean, I don't think anyone wants to pick it apart because it's CLEARLY an achievement, but so much of what was shown is just the engine.

I mean, I don't think it's really that different than something like Star Dew Valley, except that the guy making it has talent enough not to have work in a pixel engine.
