I consider this another 'stuck in the past' genre. It has a continuing but likely dwindling and aging audience who grew up with it. It's just prettier graphics on gameplay that hasn't fundamentally changed in 25 years.

I have to agree, there's just nothing new here. Civs IV & V were pretty much excellent in their ways, but Beyond Earth was a huge letdown, and this looks like a step backward, or functionally, at least it's just treading water. And the art direction makes it look like a freemium mobile game.
