CD Projekt Red Confirms Cyberpunk 2077 Is Targeting Current-Gen Consoles

Game Informer has the story.

Quote:
Cyberpunk 2077 impressed with its trailer and gameplay presentation at this E3, so much so people questioned if the game is coming to current-gen consoles. We had an interview with quest designer Patrick Mills today and broached the topic, directly asking if it might not come to this console generation.

"I've heard a number of people say that," Mills said. "The current console generation is what we're aiming for. We are aiming for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and of course PC as well."

CD Projekt Red still has not announced a release window on the game, and this E3 is the first time we saw gameplay in action. While it's comforting to know this, it also doesn't rule out it coming to future consoles. We wouldn't be surprised if it was a cross-gen release.

For more on Cyberpunk 2077, check out our recent preview from its 50-minute E3 presentation.

I'll play it on current gen, My ps4 pro with my sony 4k hdr 900 series tv looks amazing. But, I'll of course play it on the next gen and/or gaming PC whenever I get around to building a new one. Graphic card prices are crazy right now!

I got to see the hour long gameplay demo at E3 behind closed doors...

....and it blew my fucking mind. Seriously.

I left the room thinking to myself that I didn't think games could look that good just yet. All that stuff you see in the E3 trailer? That's all gameplay footage. Crazy hyped for it.

It's first person RPG as far as we have been told, with cutscenes and dialogue taking place in 3rd person. If there is a cover system, I would then not be surprised if some of the actions were in third person as well. So I am anticipating a Deus Ex style of gameplay.

Basically FPS RPG, very similar to Deus Ex...but with a open world that is incredibly dense and detailed. Also all of the transitions and cut scenes show your customized character (male or female, fully voice acted). AND there is a full driving sim too as if that wasn't enough. It's the real deal.

Can't believe it's already been almost 5 years since PS4/XB1 and we're talking about the next generation of consoles already.

You can switch between 1st and 3rd person while driving based on the interviews I have read.

I was hoping this might be a game where we'd start to see some procedurally generated building interiors. I have to say I'm a little tired of game cities being made up of pretty boxes that only look like buildings.

Even though I don't want to go into every room in a city, knowing that the room doesn't exist and that the door is just a texture ruins the immersion for me. Not to mention all the cases in an open world game where might want to run into a building to lose the cops, or chase someone through a building, or hide in or snipe from a building, or even go pick out where you want to live instead of the game telling you that this box they made over here is your designated apartment, and you'd better like it.

But I realize this is a whole other big part of a game to develop because it doesn't replace the regular amount of handcrafting necessary. It just supplements it.

Someone's going to pull it off someday though, and it's going to be cool, and people who think they'd hate it will realize it's no different then creating a procedural mountain range or forest and then hiding cool handcrafted shit in it.

Not to suggest I'm not super excited about this game.
