Report: Lizard Squad Hacker Arrested by U.K. Police [Updated]


Gizmodo has the story.

Lulz-seeking low-level dipshit troll coterie Lizard Squad is allegedly down one member. Vinnie Omari, member of the obnoxious hacking collective claiming responsibility for DDoS attacks on PlayStation and Xbox, was arrested after police raided his London home, according to the Daily Dot.

Omari was allegedly released from jail on Tuesday, and says that no charges have been filed. On his bail notice, his alleged offenses include "unauthorized computer access with intent to commit other offences."
Update: GameSpot has some new details on why the little shit got arrested.

Thames Valley Police has clarified that Vinnie Omari's arrest was not specifically related to the PlayStation Network and Xbox Live outages that took place over the holiday period.

A spokesperson for Thames Valley Police told GameSpot that Omari was arrested late in December in connection with funds stolen from the online money transfer platform PayPal--crimes that are alleged to have taken place during the summer months of 2014.

Not sure how it works in the UK, but don't you have to see a judge (arraignment) to post bail or at least be granted iit?

In the US, if you are released without charges they can't prove shit and are letting you go, temporarily.

I'm no lawyer, so slap me around if I'm wrong.

Umm.... if he received a bail notice with an offense listed, then that means that charges were filed. Jails regularly let people out (with or without bail) before the suspect goes to court. It all comes down to the offense committed. If anything, the article should read that he was charged with a crime, released, but has not been convicted (yet).

I do think it is a different system. Here if you wouldn't be released without charges being filed, there I think they actually do honor "innocent until proven guilty".
