Linda Hamilton returning for new Terminator Movie

The Hollywood Reporter has word that Linda Hamilton will return to play Sarah Connor in the new Tim Miller (Deadpool) Terminator movie.

Quote:
Cameron, who will regain the Terminator rights in 2019, is producing the new film series which has Deadpool director Tim Miller and David Ellison of Skydance teaming up.

“As meaningful as she was to gender and action stars everywhere back then, it’s going to make a huge statement to have that seasoned warrior that she’s become return,” Cameron said at the fan event, adding that now “there are 50-year old, 60-year old guys out there killing bad guys” in movies, “but there isn’t an example of that for women.”

Arnold Schwarzenegger was previously revealed to be returning as well. He and Linda Hamilton starred together in both the original Terminator in 1984 and the 1991 sequel.

THR adds that Cameron and Miller are treating the new movie as a direct sequel to Cameron’s Terminator 2: Judgment Day.

“We’re starting a search for an 18-something woman to be the new centerpiece of the new story,” Cameron said. “We still fold time. We will have characters from the future and the present. There will be mostly new characters, but we’ll have Arnold and Linda’s characters to anchor it.”

Hollywood is so original and full of new ideas. I couldn't believe they come up with these!

She's like...90.* What will she do, narrate the story from a hospital bed?

* Hyperbole. In her 60s.

She was prolly my favorite actor in T2. So doom and gloom, i think even she believed it.

It's no more absurd than Liam Neeson or Bruce Willis still killing dudes with their walkers.

All of our action movies are filled with old farts, now.

You're totally right. They've completely ruined it for me when they started calling the terminator "Pops". Arnold needs to stop embarrassing himself with these recent action movies.

Well, the only replacement we have are The Rock, who is a piece of arrogant fucking garbage and Jason Statham, who is good but he cant do it on his own.

Maybe if hollywood would fire all the gays and liberals running the place we could get some legit badasses doing movies again. Its not like there are not any out there.

It is more absurd. Age sticks to women more obviously than men; they carry it far worse in general. That's reality. A 60-year-old woman is an old fart. A 60-year-old man can star in Taken.

I think this is a great idea if they balance the old and new characters. Why wouldn't you want to see Linda and Arnold? One of my favorite series but it has gone downhill. Hopefully this will save it.

But didn't Sarah Connor die of cancer or something? I remember a line about her hanging on to life long enough to see for herself that Judgment Day didn't happen (or something like that)...

That's right, i cant remember how she died but she was dead in 3. So that means the setting should be in the 80s or 90s. But with time travel you never know what they will do.

It's much easier than that: It's called "Ignoring Every Movie Made After Terminator 2".
The new movie is a direct sequel to T2, so no plot shenanigans will be required.

Yeah, let's go Cameron canon! Screw the rest of the Terminator movies. I'm so struggling with why Skynet would produce an ageing line of T-800s though. I've got more of an issue with Arnie's age than Hamilton's, for this.

I hope the new Terminator does not redo everything again, I was one of the few that actually really enjoyed Salvation and would have loved to see the trilogy for that series. I also really loved the last Genesis one as well. I honestly feel in my opinion the only really bad Terminator was 3, and even that one the movie was not horrible just not really good at all.

How about a Terminavatar movie, where Linda's and Arnold's characters 'port' into the blue bodies of alien-like creatures to save humanity from Skynet's pursuit of unobtainium?

Yeah, sure...that's ridiculous, but the original ideas separately aren't. Riiiiiiiight, lol.

I'm the other way round: I thought Salvation was really dumb, but still a tolerable popcorn flick. I really enjoyed T3 for its depiction of human stupidity/naiveté on the one hand and many practical effects on the other. I also liked the twist at the end, seeing the priorities from a father's perspective. I never watched Genisys.
