Microtransactions have been completely removed from Middle-earth: Shadow of War

Eurogamer has word that Microtransactions have been completely removed from Middle-earth: Shadow of War.

Quote:
Today's the day the patch ripping the market and microtransactions out of Middle-earth: Shadow of War will be released. Hooray! Good riddance!

The patch is live on Steam by the looks of things but I'm not sure about PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

After the patch, orcs recruited through Online Vendettas and Ranked Conquests are stored in your Garrison, and you spend Mirian to train, upgrade and customise them.

In addition to the welcome removal of all that guff, developer Monolith has made significant alterations to the Shadow Wars part of the game, which happens after you finish the campaign. It's now called the Epilogue and has narration from old spider-fingers Shelob, grumpy mask-man Witch-king, and scary-eyes Dark Talion (sounds a bit like "D'artagnan" read aloud).

Ah excellent news. I enjoyed the first one but held off buying the second one because of the lootbox/micropayment crap.... but now it is on my list!

Same here... this is back on my radar. Now I just need to catch it on a Steam sale.

Ditto. The guy who passed away they based the Forthog download on was a good friend I worked with for many years. I heard a few things around the shenanigans around this and what was going on with the family and got a little pissed me off a lot so I passed on principle.

Thank goodness I didn't pre order or buy at full price. I'll wait a couple more years for the bargain bin price. Micro transaction taught me to be patient.

I bought this game at launch, but it didn't hook me like the first one. I should try it out again. Maybe this will make it better.

Same thing here. The game has gotten better as the months passed, but this is excellent news. I am definitely going to go back to this game. The game is really excellent now that the micro transaction nightmare is gone.
