Good trailer, doesn't reveal much but gives you a good idea of the modern Chucky design they are going for (more techy). I actually really enjoyed the previous two movies (Curse of Chucky and Cult of Chucky). But, then again, I enjoy some pretty shitty horror movies.

Is this a reboot or a sequel? I haven't been a big fan of the original because it was too cheezy. Making the doll be like a regular person just wasn't scary for me. Imagine mini-me running around with a knife while dropping the f-bomb with every other word.
It's difficult to find good doll based horror. That said, I thought "The Boy" was pretty good.

Of course it wasn't the entire movie but the clown from Poltergeist was well done. And although it's a cheesy movie, I loved the doll portion of Trilogy of Terror.

The clown from Poltergeist was the stuff of nightmares for a generation of kids who snuck into theaters to watch that movie or stayed up late to see it on HBO. Yes, I was one of them. Fucking hated that clown. Best clown ever until I found Pennywise.

From a few of those scenes, I'm guessing it's less "homicidal maniac trapped by voodoo magic in a plastic doll" and more "many AI-driven children's toys run amok."
Still, I'm kinda sad that I don't see Brad Dourif's name on the credits. Like Robert Englund's Freddy, Dourif is really what made the character.

I didn't like the originals and I doubt I'll like this. It's the same thing as all those movies where it's a kid being creepy.
Dumb.
Maybe it's just my own personal desire to finally beat the literally living shit out of something that only comes up to my knees and can speak, but either way, not scary.

The only good "horror" type movie in the last few years was Krampus. As for Child's Play, it was Brad Dourif's voice work that made the character. The stories are completely ridiculous and characters forgettable. I don't think any of the original people are involved with the remake.

The Quiet Place was pretty decent, Bird Box wasn't bad. Hereditary was just devestating. I'm not sure if it's "good" or not, but it was weird and the performances were great.
All four seasons of Channel Zero were good and so was The House on Haunted Hill.
They Come at Night was really decent as was The Night Eats the World.
Don't forget about Train to Busan.
Mandy was just insane, in a good way. I haven't seen Upgrade, but I'm hearing good things about it.
And there was also It Follows and Get Out. It's been a decent few years for horror films.

It's a decent trailer but the movie will be garbage. The originals weren't great tbh as is said above, it was mostly the voicework of chuckie that is the reason anyone actually remembers them.
