Legend of Grimrock Now Available

Almost Human's old school dungeon crawler Legend of Grimrock has been released. You can find a list of places to buy it here.

I pre-ordered my copy a few weeks ago from the devs. It came with a Steam code, but Steam isn't letting me download it. Fie!

Pre-ordered. Downloaded. Can't wait to play it later this evening.

I love me some Eye of the Beholder. Hoping this is a great throwback to that age in gaming.

Restart Steam if your preorder isn't converting to the release version...

Looks totally awesome, picking this up today! Was going to wait for the ipad version, but I don't think I can.... I wonder if you can play with a 360 controller?

I tried and there doesn't seem to be gamepad support. But I don't know how it'd work anyway, since the controls require you to click a bunch of stuff. Even casting spells makes you click the rune combos each time.

Ok thanks for the heads up. I'm fine with the mouse I guess, was just thinking this would be cool to play on the couch. Not sure how I feel about hitting rune combos each time, there is no way to macro those spells to a single button?

If there is, I don't know how. And such a thing isn't listed in the key config.

i don't think there's a way as you can have multiple casters with multiple rune combo windows open simultaneously.
a couple hours into the game now and loving it. i'm fully prepared to be frustrated as %*@#&! though at some of the puzzles.

This is what solved the issue for me.

Did the steam code come in the email the des sent when you preordered or does it come in anther email? I preordered from des too but only got the one email.

Thanks, before hand for any help.

Well Medic, the email the devs sent me started with the sentence:

Thanks for purchasing Legend of Grimrock! To access your key(s), just follow this link:
If yours said something similar, I'd assume that when they tell you to click a link for your game key, that that might be a course of action worth investigating.

This is a fantastic game, but what I miss about a game like this set in the D&D universe is the wide variety of classes and spells available. Also, a game like EotB done with 3.5 ed. rules would be sweet, with all sorts of metamagic feats. While skills like diplomacy and what not can be ignored, there is still plenty of depth available for a dungeon crawler. Perhaps even 4th ed. would work considering the grid nature of these games, but I just don't like to think about 4th ed.

That said, really glad that this game is getting the props it deserves. It's a nice distraction when I'm tired of questin' in Skyrim and New Vegas.
