From the films, predators seem to hunt only those who offer a challenge...soldiers, those armed with weapons, etc.. The kid will be hiding a weapon and appear harmless, then kill the predator with a sudden display of armaments.

Yeah, the whole deal with some predators finding it dishonorable to hunt things which were either unarmed or didn't pose a physical threat to them seems like it'll be a factor here.

Still, while I'm not optimistic, I'm hopefully they'll pull something good out of this. They should have gone through with dropping Arnold and Danny in Siberia to fight a predator. Idiots!

Of course :P

But the dude next to the kid, who is that? Could he be playing a mentally-affected character?

Shane Black. He played Hawkins in the first Predator. He is directing 'The Predator'. The only reason I have a shred oh hope for this film.

Ah, he's directing.

He directed and co-wrote Iron Man 3, the one with the Mandarin.

I'm not sure how I feel about that, def the weakest of the series and I have little inclination to watch it again any time soon.

That's HIM, no way. Crazy. He was a writer back then, iirc. That was mentioned in the dvd extras/commentary.

As a favor to writer Shane Black, whose first screenplay had become Silver's blockbuster Lethal Weapon a few months earlier, Silver hired Black to play a supporting role in the film, which also allowed him to watch McTiernan direct.

I kinda agree, Iron Man 3 was pretty much "Meh" and of the 3 Iron Man movies it is the one I least want to watch again. Iron Man 2 wasn't great, but at least it was propped up by Sam Rockwell & Mickey Rourke. 3 didn't even have that. It had about 3 minutes of totally hilarious stuff from Sir Ben Kingsley and really not a single other memorable scene.

Even the "House Party" scene totally fell flat because they only show each suit of armor for about 1 second each. If they had dragged out each suit for a good 5 - 10 seconds each before it got destroyed and he had to switch, they would have had less suits, but you would have enjoyed each one a bunch more and ended jump with a favorite they could have used again in a future movie. That was just some bad directing.

I normally like Guy Pierce, but he was terrible in Iron Man 3. Just a total nothing of a character.

I think this movie is going to suck. It's like a bad diversity joke. "Two Black Guys, a Japanese Chick, A Muslim and a little kid walk into a bar."

hehe.

I'm unfortunately very political when it comes to movies. Who directed it, the cast. The studio....

I'll buy maybe 3 movies this year. So its more of a big deal when i do it. I want that hard copy to pull out of the closet in 5 years.

I know i bash hollywood on here all day but i used to be a huge movie buff. I was that dummy who would take his $280 paycheck and go buy 3 DVDs on payday back in the mid to late 90s.

Not sure what to think about this movie until I see some trailers next year. I like Shane Black, the cast is mostly forgettable aside from Boyd Holbrook and Thomas Jane. Olivia Munn is fucking terrible. From what I gathered it exists in the same universe as the first two Predator movies, but doesn't explicitly follow their stories. If there's any mention of Dutch and the events of the original I wouldn't be too shocked either way.

Didn't realize that Tom Jane was supposed to be in this. That gives me an additional shred of hope for the film.

Tom Jane was in what is probably the best PSA I've ever seen.

Seems to me that the most obvious way to make another predator movie would be to make a prequel which tells the story of the butchered soldiers we see from the downed-chopper in Predator 1. Maybe a bit too pedestrian though, they apparently weren't an elite unit or w/e.
