I just read a "what we know so far" summation of The Last Jedi on IGN and it made me redouble the hate for that movie. I just really can't handle it. I have absolutely no idea what the third movie is going to be about. And not in a suspense kind of way. I don't know what it's going to be about in a "what in the world could make me care?" kind of way.

What do you think it will be about?

There is no 'there' there, at all. They literally have left themselves with a black hole in the center of their story and universe. It's all gone.

It's a case study in how to destroy an IP. Start with shitting up the story and progress from there!

You know what's up. I personally only consider the original Starwars trilogy and the Thrawn trilogy to be my official canon for the universe. I very happily put everything else in the bin.

I'm surprised that Disney didn't jump on the Thrawn trilogy narrative for the new films. Perhaps that's a good thing. Let's leave something great untainted.

News is that Kathleen Kennedy was told that she was going to be fired but nobody wanted her job. The fanbase is so divided that eve jj abrahams said no immediately

HaHa. That seems like nonsense. People would be killing themselves to take over the Star Wars franchise, even a big name director like Abrahams would kill people to get total control of the franchise. Double that since he is a huge Star Wars fan.

Sounds like bullshit.

Hell, I'd take the job if no one else wants it.

If I were in charge, Episode 9 would start with one of silver screen's most glorious bloodlettings, paving an entirely new road.

REALLY!?!?! You mean they're not going to ask some random schlub on the Internet to take charge of their multi-billion dollar franchise?

You don't say.

I would start it with Luke opening his eyes and realizing it was a fucking stupid dream. Then he goes on to train the future generation of Jedi with no recollection of who Rey and Ben Solo were.

This idea would be great, but...the rebels are all dead. They were pathetically picked off and vaporized while Leia Poppins was space floating.

Don't forget about how they were picked off due to a heretofore unmentioned need for fuel. The entire goddamned movie was basically, "Star Wars Episode 8: The Search for a Gas Station".

I saw Solo the other day. OMG, in less than 8 months they've destroyed 40 years of good will. One, a sequel to a flagship which barely held up by plucking on the same nostalgia strings which launched the new Star Trek (sorry JJ, guess that trick only works once, particularly when the story in TFA stars some unlikable leads who don't seem to have any chemistry in Finn, Rey, and Poe). Let's not forget plot holes and editing flaws big enough to move a death star through.

The second a prequel to a story which seemed like Star Wars trappings on a generic space movie which just was meant to launch into the crimson dawn storyline which is clearly another spin-off someone has their heart set on doing with characters no one really cares about because... THEY ARE NO LONGER IMPORTANT and no one wants to hear that story anyway.

...I'd like to see the Crimson Dawn storyline. For me, it was the bright spot in what was otherwise a serviceable Star Wars movie.
