The Endless - Decent Lovecraftian Indie

In my usual search through the garbage bin of Horror/Thriller I came across this rough gem on Saturday.

I wasn't searching for Lovecraftian, just a good story, but was pleasantly surprised to see the film open with the over-used quote:

"The oldest and strongest emotion of mankind is fear, and the oldest and strongest kind of fear is fear of the unknown"

Obviously that peaked my interest and skepticism both at once so I gave it a chance and am very thankful that I did.

It takes a while to get going. No tentacles, no gore (some blood), no tits and ass, just a really cool and weird tale. It oozes Lovecraft as far as I'm concerned. My favorite H.P. L. tale is Dream Quest if that helps put my opinion in perspective (this movie has no resemblance to that tale).

Good enough that I'm going to buy a copy. I know all Lovecraft fans tend to have their own tastes but I highly recommend you at least check it out since it's currently 'free' on Netflix.

To my fellow nerds, I present:
The Endless

Loved this one. It was a great movie. A slow burn for sure, but a good watch and like you said the price is right.

I think there are two of these films somewhat slightly related.. and a third one which is coming soon.

The first one was Resolution, then The Endless.. and the third is apparently in the works.

Yeah, this was a good movie, I like these directors and will keep tabs on their work.

Thanks for sharing that! I should have looked into the folks making the film to see what else they are up to and what they have done in the past.
