Morbius Teaser Trailer

Quote:
#MORBIUS - watch the teaser trailer now. In theaters this summer.

One of Marvel’s most compelling and conflicted characters comes to the big screen as Oscar winner Jared Leto transforms into the enigmatic antihero, Michael Morbius. Dangerously ill with a rare blood disorder, and determined to save others suffering his same fate, Dr. Morbius attempts a desperate gamble. What at first appears to be a radical success soon reveals itself to be a remedy potentially worse than the disease.

Couldn't keep the role of Joker? Why not become batman.

I have to wonder, is this part of the MCU? Was part of the Spider-Man deal that Sony could do MCU movies? Or could they just have cross-over roles (it says that JK Simmons is rumored to be J. Jonah Jameson).

That could be... interesting...

EDIT: Possible MCU tie-in confirmed?

I think this is part of Sony's Spider-Man deal. That kind of a deal usually includes all the secondary characters and villains -- which is kinda how they managed to pull off a Venom movie.

So that probably means that Michael Keaton is playing Adrian Toomes. Sweet. I also didn't know that Tom Holland was slated to be in Venom 2.

Eventually all movies are going to be MCU.

I'm still waiting on the Marvel/DC crossover movies. Any day now...

Well look here. In all my days on this earth I didn't think I'd ever live to see something like this. A superhero origin story. I think this will be very good & cover new, exciting & original material.

Great, more Jared Leto. Just what the world needs. It did seem like he took a much needed break in creative output after Suicide Squad & Blade Runner 2049.

Just something about him / his work rubs me the wrong way in a way a Joaquin Phoenix or Tom Hardy doesn't. Maybe that's why he gets the roles he does.

This movie will tie-in to Sony's Spider-Man plans, which, OK, let's see how the Toms get along first. Unless Disney outright buys Sony to regain the IPs, that dance that took place last summer about the future of Spider-Man will be repeated every couple of years until Sony gets its Sinister Six film or Holland ages out.

Marvel is also in a quiet spot when it comes to movie output and has yet to integrate other key properties after the Fox acquisition like the Fantastic Four or X-Men, which I am almost certain they are doing right now -- so Sony has an opportunity here to better leverage Spider-Man adjacent characters than Marvel. But that makes it that much harder for Disney/Marvel to get Spider-Man back, if there's even a chance of that right now.

Wasn't a comic book guy growing up (no comic shops nearby, as far as I'm aware), so never heard of Morbius. Looks interesting enough, though.

Never heard Für Elise turned into an action theme, either.

Watch the 90s Spider-Man show. He's in several episodes.

I really liked his Joker. I mean if you look at the Joker movie they just did, with the exact same script Jared Leto would have done just as good of a job as Phoenix did.

Even if they decided not to use him for the Joker movie, they should have been smart and put him back in the Birds of Prey movie for at least a cameo. His Joker was great, probably the closest to the comic book Joker of any actor outside of Mark Hamill’s animated Joker.

He’s the ‘Living Vampire’. He is a Spider-Man villain going way back, but he hasn’t been used much in the comics in the last couple of decades. He’s more of a 70’s character like the Punisher.

You said a bunch of shit that didn't make sense but even trying to pretend that the Punisher had his apex in the 70's is just fucking batshit crazy.

I see you too are a member of the Church of Ennis.

He didn't say that the Punisher had his apex in the 70s (and he'd be ignorant, not crazy, if he did), but I'm pretty sure Garth's run on Punisher: MAX was.

Normally I'm not a fan of Leto but I thought he was good in Blade Runner 2049. In fact I thought the whole movie was underrated.
