No Manís Sky Path Finder Update Overview Video

Quote:
This week Hello Games will be releasing the next content update for No Man's Sky. We're calling it the Path Finder Update; it introduces a new vehicle that will aid home planet exploration, building on the Foundation Update to hint at a path ahead for the future.

Detailed patch notes will be released when the update goes live.

Shortly after we launched the Foundation Update, we released a number of patches to address issues reported by players before beginning work on the Path Finder update. We were surprised and excited by the response to Foundation, and we have been listening carefully to community feedback since then.

To those of you who have spent time sharing feedback, whether positive or negative, we are listening.

This is the next step in our journey. It shows the path forward. We hope you'll join us.

Hmm, looks like a decent content update. But, is anyone still playing?

Still a crime charging more than $20 for this "game". Without multiplayer none of the shitty design elements are worth your time. Combat against the AI sucks. The creatures follow the same couple routines no matter the species. Flight control sucks in space and in the atmosphere. Mining sucks. Exploration sucks when everything looks so much alike after the first couple system jumps. Then you get into things like how an entire planet's landmass is all the same and the facade really collapses. There is no economy and the pilots you meet in space stations are clones of each other. Plus the graphics are Nintendo 64 era. No Man's Sky is like Elite for toddlers.

I'm not going to defend this game, because it's just not very good. I do, however, think these hyperbolic, exaggerated comparisons are pretty ridiculous.

Say what you will about the game, but No Man's Sky looks a hell of a lot better than this:

So is it a product worth buying yet or still in beta test phase?

Path Finder? Why would they use that name with Mass Effect imminent.

I, for one, am looking forward to taking this tech-demo for a spin on such an occasion that they decide to discount it heavily as it is currently queued up on my Steam wishlist.

I'm not talking about the quality of the games...just the visuals.

It's ludicrous to compare the visuals from NMS to an N64 game.

Of course that's what you meant. Duh. I knew that.

That's why there is a "with attitude" clause in the upper left logo on the site But yes, as for NMS it has been out of control.

I think we all know why. I would say because rather than why. They are trying to be clever.

Just look at what they have done with this update and the base building one. It's almost, almost as if they just look at a popular game and rip the good, well designed features from it that a designer has designed.

Coming from the studio that says you don't need game designers.

My son sort of begged Santa Claus for this game for Christmas. He was warned repeatedly but then again, he does tend to love games where all you do is build things, fly ships, and wander around. So we thought maybe he would enjoy it with the updates they were making. He ended up playing it for about 20 minutes and then moved on to Ratchet and Clank. He hasn't played since. This new update looks kind of cool but I just don't see any real fun in this game. It was a cool idea but a game needs to really grab you. This one, apparently, just doesn't.

You mean people on other game sites don't make ridiculous hyperbolic comparisons in order to suit their current feelings? That's amazing!

I love how "...with attitude" is used as the convenient excuse for all sorts of ridiculous bullshit behavior.
