Isn't this more of a subscription plan with content rolled out over time rather than a DLC content drop?

Pretty sure they were marketing it like that.

WARNING: Bitching ahead!

This additional paid content is NOT for casual players. This is just to pacify the hard-cores who hit max level quickly and are complaining that they finished all the content already. Why do I say that? Well:

They severely nerfed the drop rate of power ammo. Seriously. I rarely use power weapons and after public events there used to be several drops of power ammo on the ground. Now there is none, or 1. This may have happened at the release of Forsaken, I don't know. So they add a new perk to gear: Increase power ammo drops. Well, I have tried it with 0, 1, and 2 pieces of armor with this perk and I don't see a difference in the drop rate -- still ultra-rare. That's a completely useless perk that I will no longer use on armor. But why does this matter you ask?

Well, the OPENING QUEST (yes, the quest you MUST complete before you can experience any of the new content) starts with a visit to a new area in the tower. There you get a "mission" from the new NPC that spawns into a new mission each time you complete a step. Steps are:
  1. Get power weapon multi-kills on Hive enemies.
  2. Kill 25 Powerful enemies with power weapons. Mobs with an orange or yellow health bar, and you have to get the killing shot (no grouping for this!).
  3. Collect Radiant Seeds (drop from killing powerful enemies)
  4. Complete the Volundr Forge mission
So note those first two steps. You have to kill multiple enemies at a time in the first one top get just 1 tick of progress. With a power weapon, the ammo from which is a rare drop. And then you have to kill powerful enemies, many of which require multiple shots even with a power weapon, again with that rare power weapon ammo. Frustrating to say the least. When you would rather be experiencing new content, instead you are farming kills in old content which they have extended the time to do thanks to the drop nerf. Nice.

Fortunately the 3rd step was easy. No power weapon there, just do a strike and you get it.

Then there's the 4th step. I didn't look at the requirements and went right into it. Got wasted almost immediately. Went back and looked at the quest. MINIMUM light requirement is 610. For reference, 600 was the highest you could get prior to this (now it's 650). And they say it's REALLY hard even at 610 unless you have a team that knows each other. For casuals, it's probably best to have a higher level.

Wow. So even if you were at 600 when this dropped, you have to GRIND to complete the INTRO QUEST to get to experience the DLC you paid for. My current light level is 550. I go up a few points each week (I'm not a power player). It took me 3 months to get to this level. This isn't going to happen any time soon.

I can see adding content where a portion is not for casual players, but ALL of it? And it's DLC$ so it's paid content that I can't even access. I've experience all of Forsaken (other than the new raids) and am ready for some new stuff. I haven't played in a while because there was nothing new. Now I still won't play because there is still nothing new. Sucks to be me I guess.

This isn't just gamer bitching. They sold something to me without telling me that I would not be able to use it. I wouldn't have paid for the annual pass had I known that some of what I paid for was going to be inaccessible to me.

I would be surprised if we don't see refund requests followed closely by lawsuits on this one.

Yeah, stop the fake news, it's actually three content expansions through a year, with minor updates in between.

Fix your pagebreaking images, FFS. Nobody wants to read the rest of the damn thread on a side scroll or in 4 point font because you couldn't be arsed to format considerately.

KtxBye!

Couldn't find any logical way of making the image smaller, so I just made it a link. Sorry for the bad formatting.

What I love about this game is that they just keep screwing people who buy stuff early.
If you bought things in order of release as they release, you paid $60 + $10 + $10 + $40 +$35. Since then, they've given away the base game, they've given away the first 2 dlc with the purchase of Foresaken. They screw loyal players and heavily reward newcomers late to the party? Don't get it.

Anyway, this game was a fun diversion for a little while but it's already way too expensive to carry on. I'm tired of hearing about more content. It just means more premium $$$ for fairly minimal return. I picked up Foresaken. Not sure why, but I'm not throwing any more dollars at this game.

Side note, load times are inexcusable. Makes me rarely want to play. I even have the game installed on an SSD.

This new DLC blows. I could go into a deep lengthy explanation as I've been huge into Destiny since Destiny 1's alpha. But holy crap they went from Forsaken to this? I didn't expect some huge addition but I expected something more than this hot garbage.

So you are saying they still should keep charging the original price for the game even though it is old? So no sales for old content. How do I get the feeling you'd be complaining then the other way around that those bloodsuckers are still asking $60 for the base game even though it is already 2 years old.

And seriously people, they keep working on new content with dozens of hours of gameplay - I think it is justified that they get paid for it. At least they don't force microtransactions on you like RDR2 or any other MMO, and there's no MMO -style monthly payments.

Also some of the stuff is grindy to make sure there's a sense of value to the rewards, not everyone is running around with the weapon you invested your time and skill in.

Forsaken was a massive upgrade to the base game, with new campaign, a massive raid and other peripheral content. The annual pass gets you a year's worth of content for $35.

Honestly I don't get the hate, I think Bungie are, compared to many, handling this as it should be handled.

No, I'm saying there should be some kind of discount if you've been buying everything up beforehand. If they're going to make the dlc largely story driven and eventually just give it all away anyway, I'll wait until they're done developing for the game and just buy everything for $40. This isn't a game that merits subscription level prices.

I wouldn't call forsaken massive for $40 either. Gambit mode is a fun diversion for a little while but has little staying power. I could care less about item and level cap increases since they're easy to to attain, and when it comes to PvE the caps are virtually arbitrary because all content scales with you anyway. In the end, it offers middling story and little in the way of game-changing updates. A $40 expansion should really mean something. It's almost the cost of the base game itself? I'm fact, I've spent more on new content than I've spent on the base game. For what? A handful more hours on a meh story, cap increases in a game where level doesn't matter, add gambit mode - which is fun for all of 10 matches or so. The Destiny 2 journey has not been worth $155.

Don't know what to tell you, man. There's a new storyline campaign, a new raid (that took 20hrs for the first team to complete), two new sandbox worlds with additional secrets and stuff, new enemies, new weapons, new supers and a new pvp mode.

If you don't feel like you got your moneys worth, then I wonder what your expectations are for a full-priced game.

Then again it seems like you've made up your mind, and seems like there's nothing that will change it. Just wanted to fix people's perceptions here since they were obviously wrong.

I kind of have to agree with that sentiment. It took my team 14 hours on the Forsaken Raid (spread out over 3 weeks of course, we have lives heh).

Now, if people don't want to run it blind that's their business, but there's so many secret things in the game and if you want to use videos or some such to get them and run it easier, hey, that's your business... I just think you're short changing your experience that way.

It's going to be the same for whatever content they are releasing now. I've already spent quite a few hours trying to beat the first forge with no success, but I'll keep trying to work out new tactics and plans to get it done. That's the challenge of it all.

I’m more of a casual single-player storyline player, so all this grindy stuff just leaves me behind and what always happens is that the next time the level cap gets bumped, the game starts dropping stuff at what was the highest level before like crazy.

For example, when they bump the level from 600 to 650, all the sudden the game will start dropping level 600 items like they were level 1 items.

I usually just wait till the level cap goes up, then go in and snag all the items to bring me up to the previous level in an afternoon, then wait it out till the level cap goes up again instead of grinding for items.
