New PC

My new toy:

CORSAIR ONE PRO Compact Gaming Desktop, Liquid-Cooled Intel i7-7700K, Liquid-Cooled GeForce GTX 1080 Ti, 480GB M.2 NVMe, 2TB HDD, 32GB DDR4

It felt a bit weird not building it myself but, after trying to source the exact parts I wanted through Hong Kong's antiquated online shopping scene and bazaar-style PC markets, I decided I had more money than time. Also, this thing is probably the best put together pre-built I've ever seen.

Some nice specs. I've wanted to get my hands on an NVMe for a while now..

Also, given the length of that thing, the 1080ti must sit vertically?

Yes, upside down as well.

I don't know how to count that.

Just generally speaking, is it much faster to boot on the NVE?

I'm actually thinking about buying a prebuilt myself, but I'm willing to sacrifice a little performance for an extremely quiet PC. I want it to be near silent.

I went pre-built myself about 6 months ago (Alienware, the last one I bought from them about 6 years ago still runs like a champ). I haven't had as much luck with my last few assembled jobs and got tired of troubleshooting. Some overheating, a failed power supply... finally just said screw it.

6800k, 32GB, 500GB standard SSD, 1TB and GTX 1070 so saved a few bucks, clocking in around $1700. I dropped another 2TB SSD but didn't go with M.2 for the time being.

But it's the pyramid case which is cool looking (IMO), pretty quiet, and easy as heck to work on but also a fuckin monster; big and fairly heavy!

The load time will vary depending on other hardware (POST processing time, etc). But, theoretically.. yeah. A fast SSD has a little less than 600 MB/s of bandwidth. An NVMe can approach 3GB/s.

Two months and counting, if you're Hillary.

Come on, that was good. Admit it.

Yeah, I know this. I just like getting Rommel to talk about himself and/or his things.

It's just a wee bit of single-man envy!
