MSI's VR One is a Pascal-powered PC in a Backpack #MSI #VR

PC Gamer has the story.

Quote:
The Oculus Rift and HTC Vive have ushered in an emerging era of VR gaming, though both solutions require that you tether the headset to a relatively powerful PC. MSI's new VR One backpack cuts that cord, or at least redirects it to a PC that you wear on your back.

The VR One is being pitched as the world's first-ever VR backback. It's a concept that MSI has been working on throughout the year and is now showing off at the Tokyo Game Show.

Wearing a laptop on your back doesn't sound all that appealing when you'll already be dancing around immersed in VR, though the VR One weighs just 3.6kg, which MSI says qualifies as the lightest (and thinnest) backpack PC system on the planet.

MSI isn't giving a detailed accounting of the specs just yet, instead just saying it comes with an overclocked CPU and GTX 10-series graphics card. It also comes with a pair of battery packs that can keep you in the game for up to 1.5 hours (LEDs indicate how much battery life remains).

If I were 10 I'd eat that thing up.

As an adult the only person that belongs on is someone so rich it would be considered "eccentric". Anyone less rich would just be retarded.

Yes, because we certainly cannot enjoy things in our own homes. Let us all live in the shame and humiliation of the viewpoint of others.

Fuck you weak pussyboi wannabe men. I will do what I want.

Let's all just follow the crowd and NEVER, EVER, dare to be different in fear of the ridicule of others. In all honesty I bet you'd LOVE to give the backpack a go but are too afraid to be different. Maybe.

Come on. A little rough on Vallor. I think it looks goofy but I would wear it in the privacy of my own home to do some VR if I had the extra cash. Now if my wifes side of the family came for a surprise visit. I am not sure I would keep it on. Granted I am in my forties.

And if my brother-in-law is over, I may put on some pants and wait until he leaves before letting the dog resume licking my balls and asshole. No fucking shit! That doesn't mean I am going to avoid or even deny letting the dog get in nice and deep, clean that shit out (Figuratively and liter--) while I masturbate to bridal pictures of my ex-girlfriend posted to a facebook page she doesn't know I stalk.

Why? Because that's who I am and damned if I am going let anyone tell me differently. Also, because unlike that swollen meat clam we know as "Vallor," I don't blush and cry the moment someone is looking at me.

Now pass the nerd backpack so I can strap my dogfucker ass in.

Yeah, man. It's practical.

I mean, you can use it for...
Oh, then there's...
Of course, it's handy to have around for when...

Okay, so it's not practical at all.

It's practical in that it's self-contained.

makes sense to me. although i'd wager you'd want to buy the (eventual) bigger battery add-on/expansion. although guessing being the first of its kind it will come at a price premium that will make it obsolete before it even goes anywhere.

Good lord, I'm surprised grown adults are calling this practical at all in any way. There is no way I'm strapping on a dorky back pack and dork goggles, while waving dork hooks for controllers in front of me, to feel like I'm wearing a ghostbusters Halloween costume from my childhood, in order to play games. None of what that picture is showing seems appealing on any level to me.

You know, how many people talk about how gender roles exist on this website, and how men and women are clearly different in some ways (which I don't disagree with). How many "sexy masculine man points" do you think I'll earn with my wife after strapping that shit on? Negative 2. She'd see me, then promptly mistake me for a second child, and go buy me a Happy Meal and light up sneakers to go with the rest of my 11 year old dork suit.

I'm not saying you should always conform to societal expectations, but....fuck..I draw the line somewhere. Which starts at not strapping on a Turboman Jetpack costume to fly up to jungle land.

I'm actually amazed at how insecure you people are in the privacy of your own home. I honestly had no idea you would give up something you enjoy because you might look a bit silly doing it.

Makes one wonder how you ever go to a beach wearing 1sqft of fabric, or try new things (because well look so elegant learning a new sport).

fucking pathetic if you ask me.

*Tries ALMOST all new things*

It's not that. Mostly I was being over the top, but it's more this:

1. None of that looks comfortable or fun, even in the privacy of my own home. It looks not fun. Waving around with a jetpack on my back does not strike me as the better way to enjoy video game - for me.

2. I still think about how my wife views me. It's not insecurity so much that I care that she sees me as a strong, tough, willful, sexy provider rather than a dorky 12 year old just as much for her benefit. I won't apologize for that. She'd love me either way, but ... why don't we let ourselves go? Why don't we turn into fat sloths who wear nothing but gym clothes around the house? There's something to be said for continuing to care about impressing your partner, even if you've been together for a long time. If you have a wife who would be downright impressed by you spending your time in a video game costume, there is nothing wrong with that either, I just personally feel it's important to keep some of the mystique there. Call me old fashioned. Call me...conservative? Terran, where are youuu?! And these are only my opinions and perspectives anyway. They're not fact or anything. Just thought I'd chime in with my 2 cents.

FYI: A/S/L? I love going to the beach and trying new sports.
