Sony's "Days of Play" Is Back
Quote:
Sony’s bringing back its immensely successful Days of Play promotion after last year’s triumph, meaning that you can look forward to discounts on PlayStation games, hardware, and accessories right through E3 2018. This year’s initiative is set to kick off on 8th June and will end on 18th June, with a new limited edition PS4 Slim console also up for grabs.
What else is on sale, then? Well, the PS4 Pro will drop to $349.99 in North America, while the PlayStation VR Starter Pack will be discounted on both sides of the Atlantic, down to £199.99/$199.99. God of War will plunge to £39.99/$49.99, while it’ll be joined by various other discounted PS4 exclusives like Horizon: Zero Dawn and Gran Turismo Sport.
Sony will also be reducing the price of annual PlayStation Plus memberships, and there’ll be savings on other services like PlayStation Vue and PlayStation Now.

"will plunge to £39.99/$49.99" - Is that an actual 'sale' price? I would have thought £15/£5 being a sensible 'sale' price.
It's not like anyone is getting a great deal for that $49.99 price yet it's being 'presented' as one. Nice marketing and ensures that new titles are even more expensive.

It sounds like a case of EvAv 'Bargain Bin' copyright infringement. I'm calling Saul.

Well, I was planning on picking up a Pro because God of War is making my launch model sound like a small aircraft taking off. I guess I'll just wait until June.

Does the Playstation 4 Pro actually DO anything? There was always the vague promise that future games would make use of it, but I don't really recall seeing any comments or videos about the Pro making games that much better...

Play God of War in performance mode for the higher frame rate. Night & day.

It makes games Look Better. It's not quite as good at this as the One X, which makes games Look More Better, while also having a 4k Blu-ray drive.

Ok, so where is Xbox's discounts? I'm holding off for buying an XboxOneX, hopefully bundle with a game or discount or something during E3. I already have a PS4 Pro with 2tb SSD.

Guess what? The Pro is EVEN LOUDER!! God bless Sony's awesome exclusives but if you want a quiet machine, get the Xbox One X.

...because it'll be sitting there quietly unused while you play actual games on your PS4, PC, and Switch.

Joking aside, the Xbox One X is passively cooled. Was likely not cheap to implement, so I can see why Sony still makes their PS4s sound like leaf blowers. I personally do not hear my PS4 Pro unless I am in a loading sequence or the audio during a section of a game is really low. Otherwise, I can't hear it over the actual game.

Exactly! By not using it!

I think there is so much pressure to get the thing as small as possible that noise is considered a trivial pursuit.

I don't mind the noise; I'm more worried about slowly overtaxing the machine. It's the sort of thing I know the Pro can handle better than the base unit. Besides, the One X can't play God of War.
I do plan on picking up a One X, though.

The only time my PS4 Pro was loud, was because I had forgotten to take the dust cover off before playing. It's actually much quieter than my One X while playing a 4K Blu-Ray.
