Nintendo Switch Question

We bought the Switch for the kids along with Mario Odyssey as the only game so far. I'm sure we'll get to picking up Breathe of the Wild soon, along with a few other must haves like Splatoon 2.

Anyways, it's just under two days before Xmas and I realized that one SP game is not going to cut it as a "family gift". So, I'm going to go quickly pickup Mario Kart for the Switch.

My questions are:

How are the quality of yhe 3rd party pro controller-style gamepads?

When the unit is docked and controllers attached, can you play using a pro controller on the TV as Player One?

Is it better to get a pro controller-style gamepad or more joycons?

Quick help is appreciated!

The split control setup of the joycons is actually a pretty comfortable way to play Mario Kart. In a pinch, you can also play with a single joycon (rather than a pair) as a single controller for Mario Kart. So two pairs can act as 4 controllers.

I think for the kids the joy cons attached to the thing will be fine. The pro controller is really nice, but for the kids i think its a bit overkill.

3rd party stuff is usually decent these days. I might go that route. Nintendo is trolling with these controller prices..

Don't forget about Mario Kart. I've been playing that game for like 4 years and still enjoy it.

Thanks.

It sounds like anot her set of joy cons might be the way to go.
