Hugh Hefner, Hero and Inspiration to all Boys and Many Men Dies at Age 91

Not gaming related but I'm sure of interest to many here.

Playboy Enterprises Inc said he passed away peacefully at home in Los Angeles, from natural causes.
Hefner began publishing Playboy in his kitchen in 1953. It became the largest-selling men's magazine in the world, shifting seven million copies a month at its peak.

The OG Playboy has printed his last... *ahem* gripping article and gone to publisher heaven at the ripe old age of 91.

Larry Flynt may have won the fight for pornography but Hef made it mainstream and even classy. Despite the "I read it for the articles" trope Playboy really did have a lot of content between nekkid pictures including landed candid and groundbreaking interviews with with the likes of it MLK, John Lennon, and even heads of state. Many an author was discovered and others had great stories published first in Playboy like Bradbury, Stephen King, and Vonnegut.

Considering his most recent wife was 60 years his junior the "natural causes" is going to get a lot of airplay (wink nudge, know what I mean?!) but on a larger scale he represents one of the last public examples, in the Western World, of alpha male hedonism. It hasn't gone away it's just gone underground and I'm not sure if that's a good or a bad thing.

Whatever comes next: Good night, Pajama Man.

I guess right about now he's either burning in hell or simply not existing, in which case he won. We won't know which until we die.

Why would he burn in hell? He seemed like a nice enough guy. He did a lot of good for a lot of people, including making a bunch of women a bunch of money they might not have otherwise made.

Via con dios, Hef. You will be missed.

PS, as a huge fan of the original incarnation of Fleetwood Mac, I can't think of Hef and not picture this, which I've watched way too many times.

I would actually pick up a Playboy every December for their video-game centerfolds. I think that lasted between 2004 and 2009.

I saw where someone pointed out that Hef died on hump day. He did it right.

Great man that opened peoples eyes to sexuality and provided a platform for edgy journalism. Rest in peace.
