Analogue Super Nt Review - A SNES clone worth $190?!?

The SNES is one of the greatest consoles of all time and the Analogue Super Nt attempts to be the next evolution of the hardware engineered with an FPGA, no emulation and a goal for total accuracy. But does it live up to the hype? Here is my review!

Ummm, I admire this kind of enthusiasm, but 190 dollars for an unofficial (?) recreation of a 25 years old console with digital video and audio out, but without controllers and only one built-in game (that wasn't as good as its Amiga counterpart)? Thanks, but no, thanks.

To put this into perspective: I gladly paid 100 euros for the SNES Mini. Sure, it's emulated, but it comes with Nintendo's blessing, 2 controllers and 20 of the best SNES games ever (some of which are shown in this video as well).

This strikes me as a good choice for collectors who have a sizable library of SNES games and don't want to mess with rigging the SNES up to play it regularly. I wish I was one of those people but the vast majority of my SNES collection was sold back to Electronics Boutique back when I was more of a moron than I am now.

This is the challenge with something like this... it's pretty expensive to jump into SNES collecting right now as prices are probably at an all time high. Just look at the games I showed (which I purchased long before they got to this point)

Axelay $130
Final Fantasy III $120
Contra III $110
Yoshi's Island $70
Super Mario All-Stars $35
Stunt Race FX $25

Those are complete in box prices..but still!

I'm all on board with this FPGA stuff. Never minds carts. the 50 SNES worth having are for sure affordable over time, but an Everdrive or SD with ROMs is good enough for me.

I just want the accuracy. My life in gaming did a very in depth video on this console and it seems to be the real deal only better.

I want one.

Axelay is a great game! The upscaling on the Super NT looks incredible too - seeing those games at 1080p 60fps makes them look brand new.

How does the Super NT compare to the Super NES Classic aside from the 60fps?
