PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds Testing Blue Zone Changes

Eurogamer has word that PUGB corporation is testing some changes to the game's blue zone.

PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds test servers are getting a series of tweaks to adjust the game's infamous blue zone - the electrical field of death which constricts play space.

Three main changes are on the way, all of which will impact the "mid-to-late phase" of a PUBG round.

First, blue zone waiting times will slightly decrease - so you'll have to hotfoot it a bit quicker.

At the same time, the shrinking speed - designed to herd players closer together - will also decrease.

Finally, the very last blue zone will get an increase in damage per second to any players caught in it. This should hopefully see matches end a little quicker if people are trying to hide outside the safe radius.

So - you'll be on the move slightly more often, but have more time to get to where you're going.

I like this and it's a step in the right direction, but it is still not enough to bring me back. A Twitch streamer mentioned adding a UAV sweep every minute or so to show player's location. Something like this would be great and has to potential to speed up the game. Plus it would discourage, hopefully, a lot of the camping.

Does the game have a health meter? Drain it beginning at 10 secs stationary and continuing until having moved for 10 seconds and 10 feet, at which point it stabilizes but does not go back up. Problem solved, no more camping. You camp, you die.

Is this a problem? The whole reason this game is fun is because of luck and the cat and mouse aspect.

They should fix their server and bugs first.

It's a one-life survival game. People bitchin' about camping and trying to turn this into COD just baffles me.

I love the support the developer is throwing at the title right now and hope they keep it up. IMO, they need to be working on the technical issues - frame rate, disconnects, rubber banding, etc. - before they work on balance fixes (by and large at least).

Beta had better netcode and no rubber banding.

Hit detection was accurate.

perhaps I'm in the minority depending on split second timing and being faster than my enemy to win fights, that has always been my advantage in shooters, in this game it seems you have to use strategy to fight the server not the enemy, because of the netcode delay, you're never sure what shots land, where they landed on the enemy or if the cover you're behind will actually block shots, as your on screen location isn't necessarily accurate due to server issues.

The sad part is, this kind of thing wasn't acceptable in games back in the 90's and early 2000s, in SINGLE player games, why is it acceptable in multiplayer "e sport ready" games in the year 2018.

Especially games out of early access.

Anyway, I'll say it again, I can't wait for someone with half the funds to make a game with twice the content that works properly.

I appreciate the work these guys put in with earlier builds of the game, but I don't see the same love and dedication they once had for the project after they joined forces with Microsoft, it's so easy to see after they started work on that the work on the pc version flopped.

And because of the xbox version, now we'll see less features and graphical improvements to the pc version as to avoid controversy with the console market, because if they can't have it, it'll prove the truth, pc is the master hardware.

the thing I will never stop respecting if they follow through with it....*crosses fingers* is the full mod support they announced, but because of hackers and the console, I have my doubts it'll ever happen.

Personally I'd like them to take the millions they have, and make PUBG PC version its own separate PUBG on console, and continue to improve the engine *or even change it, as the U4 engine even limits fortnight by epic who made the engine"

really...a new engine, millions in cash, consider it.
