Someone Pinch Me - Sizzlling Laptop Deal?

So, someone tell me this isn't the best deal out there on a sub-$2k laptop. If it isn't, please let me know which ones are.

ASUS ROG STRIX GL702VS-RS71 w/goodies

https://www.amazon.com/GL702VS-RS71-...MNBPN38HN5X6Z3

I'm looking to buy into a gaming laptop this refresh cycle, instead of a desktop. Since I moved my gaming PC to the TV I've seen improved benefits to my work effort (practically no gaming during the day. Hey, lunches happen), and I'm spending more time with the kids playing splitscreen or mulitplayer games.

Back to the laptop. Here are the specs:

  • Display: 17.3" Full HD (1920x1080) 120Hz Refresh Rate Matte Display w/ NVIDIA G-Sync | Graphics Card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 8GB GDDR5
  • Processor: 7th Generation Kaby Lake Intel Core i7-7700HQ Quad Core (2.8GHz-3.8GHz, 6MB Intel Smart Cache, 45W)
  • RAM: 16GB DDR4 2400MHz | Hard Drive: 512GB Intel 600p NVMe SSD (Seq. Read 1775MB/s, Seq. Write 560MB/s) + 1TB 7200RPM HDD

Maybe I just need one of you to tell me to pull my panties up and buy the damned thing.

I'm not a big fan of ASUS. They are cheaply made machines as far as I am concerned.

Case in point, the ASUS UX303. I thought this would be a great ultra lite travel pc. Then I read about people complaining about the hinge. It's plastic. The point in the notebook with the highest stress and they use a piece of plastic. Mine broke a year and a half later, and I barely used it (travel only). And they won't fix it, not without shelling out some major $$$. Just to put another plastic piece in there.

My wife also had an ASUS 2-in-1 and the screen has never worked correctly.

Maybe I just had bad luck with them, but that hinge thing was a major design flaw so I'm not confident in their build quality any longer.

I bought an ASUS G75VW six years ago and had almost entirely positive experiences with it. The only issue I had was with the wireless card occasionally dropping (a pretty annoying issue!). I bought a replacement (confirmed compatible) and tried several times to install it but just couldn't get the damned thing to function properly (driver issues I think). At this point the battery is also dead (won't hold a charge), but that is a universal flaw in batteries as they age.

I also have an ASUS desktop. I'm a big fan, but none of my ASUS purchases have been in the past five years, so it's possible quality has dropped.

I still have that friggin' wireless card, lol. Never could get it installed. Grrrrr...

Ok, so we're at 1-1.

Any tiebreakers?
