Far Cry 5 Reviews "Far Cry 5ís world is meticulously constructed"

USgamer - 4.5/5

Far Cry 5 is a game that struggles in trying to serve two purposes. On one hand, there's a dark, horrific tale of a cult taking over a small town. On the other, it's a playground of destruction, letting players fly and drive around, blowing up things with a bear and a dog. Both sides are good, but they don't really meet in the middle. If you can survive the tonal whiplash, you'll find a great game here and Far Cry Arcade only makes it better.
GamesRadar - 4/5

Far Cry 5 is a continuation of everything you remember about the series, but an instalment thatís taken a good look at itself, and what it does, to work out the best possible way of doing it. The compact, more streamlined design never feels small and instead comes across as more achievable and event filled. How often have you finished a Far Cry with a ton of missions and bits you never got around to doing? Thatís that stuff thatís been paired back. What remains are the best bits - the pure, distilled chaos of the series more manageably portioned and packaged.
Destructoid - 7.5/10

Far Cry 5 is a solid first-person shooter set in a vibrant, breathtaking location. It plays well, looks great, and is packed with enough content to keep players invested in Hope County for a good, long while. Though Joseph Seed and Eden's Gate work better in theory than in practice, the Montana-based doomsday cult marks a departure for the franchise that pays off.
Gamer Informer - 7.5/10

Far Cry 5ís world is meticulously constructed, and itís a remarkable facsimile of Big Sky Country. Unfortunately, too much of the action in it is uninspired. Itís a beautiful but bland recitation of whatís come before, from both the series and Ubisoftís open-world playbook. Itís never bad, but considering how great the past games have been, its overall predictability is disappointing.
Digital Trends - 3/5

Ubisoft set a high bar for itself in 2017 when it presented a thoughtful concept that turned Far Cryís outlandish and often politically charged lens on the United States. The game ultimately settles something closer to the devil-may-care attitude of past Far Cry games. While not devoid of fun, the game feels hollow. Four previous Far Cry games ó 3, 4, Primal, 5 ó were built this way, and the formula has grown stale.

They need to scrap the series. For someone who had REALLY gotten into FC the series for all games up to and including 4, it's just more of the same now. The one reviewer got it right, the frigging gameplay is stale as shit.

Just scrap it.

Well... at least we know in a couple years they will release a new Far Cry that will blow us away. This is pretty much the norm for Ubisoft. Make the same shit over and over, sells decline because folks are board and then boom! They release an innovated title that everyone loves! Can't wait. Will pass on this one...

So, is it more than a MAGA supporter murder simulator?
Proud to be perma-banned 5 times on NeoGAF.

It has co-op. Therefore I will be getting this some time in the future.
Be the change you want to see in the world.
Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, but today is a gift. That is why it is called the present.

The story was apparently written in 2014 and the antagonists are a doomsday cult called Eden's Gate...so yeah. It's more than that.
