Weekend Headbanger - What are you listening to?

Quote:
Rock musician Gene Simmons is to be credited with the "axe" design. In 1978, Gene was searching for a new bass guitar that would either "blend in" or "stand out from" his garish make up and costume, would be a good trademark, and would show his philosophy of how a bass should be handled - like a weapon. After garnering enough wealth from touring with his band KISS, Gene went to renowned luthier Steve Carr to build the first prototype of the axe bass and then the popular bass itself. Since then, the axe bass has been a running trademark for KISS.[citation needed]

In 2012, Gene Simmons commissioned Jim Cara of Original Cara Hot Rod Guitars to develop a chrome and gold plating process for the AXE and Punisher project. As of 2013, the Chrome models are available for purchase by high-end Kiss collectors.
It's the weekend. What are you listening to?

I see Kenny Rogers passed away at the age of 81. I grew up listening to his music. I have 3-4 of his LPs that were my mother's. I'll have to go pull those out today.

Two of my favorite instruments come from KISS. The battle axe from Gene Simmons you showed here and Paul Stanley's broken mirror guitar!

That's a fantastic pic MJ. I thought of you when I picked the Axe picture (I know you love KISS).

As someone mentioned, Kenny Rogers passed away so I am listening to some of my favorites from his catalog this weekend along with folks I associate with him.

Maybe my favorite of his:

It seemed he was always entangled with Dolly Parton:

Couple other notable duets will make it in to the playlist.

Fun Fact: I sold him a Pentium 90 (Acer) with all the works back in 1994-ish when I was a salesperson at Computer City in Tukwila Washington.

I have a few of his albums on vinyl, and my wife and I have been listening to those tonight.

These days he can be seen nearly every fair-weather weekend at Exotics at RTC in Redmond, polishing his McLaren. I've stopped by to chat with him several times. Nice guy.

Friend of mine just shared this with me. They did it while touring for Sol Invictus. Hard to believe it's already been 5 years since it was released. Separation Anxiety is probably the highlight of the four songs.
