I can remember being impressed by the Lynx when i saw pics in EGM, but at the time the Turbo Express was my dream handheld.

And oh, the (Do you play your games or just collect) video. LOL! That fad to black was brutally long, i was in my car laughing my ass off waiting for it to end.

Turbo Express was great, the only thing that kept it from doing well was the batteries dying in like 2 minutes (maybe 15 if you bought expensive top of the line batteries), and well the price.

I was a really young and extremely poor kid when those were around. Never had a chance to even play on one.

They were dream consoles to me in the sincerest terms.

MJ - great video! Brought me back to my high school years. I worked after school and bought a Lynx with the money I had earned in April of '90, choosing it over a GameBoy. Convinced several friends to get one and had some amazing fun using ComnLynx with California Games. There were some great games on the system and I have very fond memories of that time and the games that I played. Sadly, my original Lynx (the Model 1) died after about two years and Atari worked with me to replace it with the Model 2, which I had kept for many years.

You highlighted some great games in the video, but let me add a few more of my favorites if there are any collectors that are interested:

- Electrocop, which was a launch game, was truly remarkable for the time with large sprites and a compelling play style.
- Gates of Zendocon, another early title, was a fairly run of the mill side scroll shooter that I remember playing a ton of.
- Klax, which was an arcade port, and in my mind was the best port of the game I have ever played.
- RoadBlasters, another arcade port, that plays and feels very close to the arcade. It was one of my favorite arcade games and to have it on a "portable" system at the time was amazing.
- Xenophobe was a great, somewhat modified conversion of the arcad split screen adventure game. Another great game where my friends and I would all "Lynx up"
- Robo-Squash was an addictive 3D-oriented "pong style" update. Lots of fun to play and a great multiplayer experience.

Overall, I really enjoyed the Lynx and thought that Atari did a good job in the early years bringing a more modern gaming experience to players in hand-held form. Of course, it was no match for anything Nintendo at the time, but it brought a unique experience and was very innovative given the technology and cost constraints at the time. It was our modern day Nintendo Switch - a unified gaming experience on the go with 16-bit caliber games.

Lynx was designed by some of the guys who also designed the Amiga, like RJ Mical. Never had one... probably due to owning an actual Amiga at the time.
