Majority of The Witcher 3 Studio Now Working on Cyberpunk 2077 #Cyberpunk2077

CD Projekt RED is hard at work on Cyberpunk 2077. PC Gamer has the story.

Quote:
The majority of the Witcher 3 developers at CD Projekt RED have been working on the studio's upcoming sci-fi RPG, Cyberpunk 2077, for "quite a while now".

Speaking to GamesRadar, senior VP of business and publishing at CD Projekt, Michal Nowakowski, said that "The team is divided right now. There's a sizable team still working on [The Witcher 3: Blood and Wine], but an even more sizable team has actually been working on Cyberpunk for quite a while right now."

Cyberpunk 2077 was first announced in 2012 with a teaser trailer designed to gauge the potential audience for the project. "We released the Cyberpunk teaser trailer because we wanted to see how gamers felt about it," CEO Iwinski said back in June. "We were super excited about the project internally, but what if it wasn't the right thing [for us]? But the response has been incredible. Now it's just up to us to deliver. We're hard at work on it."

Very similar to the Witcher 3, I imagine. I wonder how open-world it'll be.

I'm afraid of this becoming Destiny 2.0, all promise and less than stellar execution.

Well, CDPR has a pretty good track record, and I don't think they're going to be having to bow to an outside publisher, so they have a better chance than most to continue producing good work.

Doubtful, CDPR has a great track record, I'd be more worried of The Division becoming Destiny 2.0 really.

Have you played this series? Each iteration has improved on the previous installment. I don't think they'll screw this one up. These guys are just getting in their stride.

Never mind that Cyberpunk is an rpg first and foremost. Destiny is not. In fact the two have very little in common to begin with.

This has the real possibility of being a special game. These guys are at the top of their game and the team is staying together after Witcher 3. There is substance behind the excitement.

That's exactly what I want. Destiny mission structure and seamless online with real world based weapons. It doesn't even need a story if it nails the gameplay.

unfortunately i think you are right.. I was really looking forward to Division as it looks amazing and the premise of the game seemed awesome.. but i cant shake the feeling that this will be destiny in new york, with mmo like questing and mob spawning, and this for me is definately a dealbreaker..

on topic: Gamers all over the world scream out in joy.. CDPR is awesome and they will deliver an experience at least as awesome as the witcher 3.. and Cyberpunk will not be a shitty game like destiny nor will it have any of it's shitty mechanics.

Eh if you have no point, why even bother? Other wise you're just shooting and grinding to be shooting and grinding.

I played pen&paper Cyberpunk legit in the very early 90's. At the end of the day that doesn't always translate into a great game.

Hopefully with all the Cyberpunk source material out there, they can have plenty of content and the like. I think Destiny was in part hampered by being its own IP, I mean, they almost got there. From what I can tell they ran out of dev money or the story they were trying to tell just didn't come together and they scrapped a bunch of it.

I'm glad to hear you guys are giving bona fides for the company.

Cyberpunk as a genre is one of those hallowed topics we all wish someone would tackle, and it seems like companies are afraid to take on the genres everyone really wants sometimes.

I'm not sure where you're getting the impression that Destiny is cyberpunk at all. It's really not.

They're working with the creator of the pen and paper game of the same name, on this project, I'm pretty sure it's in safe hands.
