Nintendo Switch Accessories Reviewed - The Good, The Bad & The UGLY

The Nintendo Switch is a market success and has hundreds of accessories for it, both for docked mode and portable. Here are accessories that I have and what I think of them.

My recent trip to Spain had me testing all sorts of cool and weird accessories.

Two that I got right away.

1) Is a no-brainer: a screen protector. I get this for everything I might move around or has a touch screen.

2) When the switch released there were a lot of reports of people accidentally damaging or adding wear to their devices by inserting and removing it from the dock all the time so I got a dock extender cable.

It costs about $12 and it is basically just a small box with a USB C hook up that fits the spot in the docking station where the Switch would normally sit. Then it has a USB C cable on the other side. Instead of having to dock and undock all the time you just plug the USB C cable into the Switch and it's just like being docked (including charging).

You don't have to worry about wear and tear from inserting and removing the Switch and you have more control over heat, which some reported as a problem over long gaming sessions.

Better safe than sorry IMO.

If you look closely in the video you'll see I scratched my screen on the left side... Should have got a screen protector

I imagine even with all the care you must take with your gear wear and tear on something like the Switch is inevitable. You probably have a pristine version sitting around somewhere

I normally do not get screen protectors for my devices as I hate how they feel, how they reflect/refract light, and can dim the image a little, but boy am I glad I did for the switch. If I had not, I would have horribly scratched the bottom of the screen due to the shit quality dock that Nintendo includes with the Switch.

In over a decade of having smart phones, tablets, and so on I think I've only had a drop or something 3 times but I still invest in ZAGG InvisibleShield screen protectors. They have two types the softer touch type which I really like for regular devices, and the HD style for more glass-like which I use for devices like my iPad Pro and Samsung Note which require writing surfaces.

The soft surfaces end up leaving indentations with the pens so the hard services are a lot better.
