I thoroughly enjoyed Infinity War. I was surprised when they actually went through with The Snappening. Marvel Studios had bigger balls than I ever gave 'em credit for, even if most or all of the Snap-based deaths will end up getting undone. It still took a lot of guts to kill off (even if its only temporary) virtually the entire cast of their big summer blockbuster.. I'm looking forward to Avengers 4 next year; I'll be interested to see how they wrap things up.

I saw the Thursday night premier and it was an absolutely terrific film. I loved it. Thanos was well developed rather than an easy-to-peg caricature. Thoroughly entertaining. SEE IT, and do so BEFORE you have it spoiled for you.

Also, thank you for restoring Thor to the badass he is, rather than a bumbling comic idiot like in that PoS Ragnarok film.

I think this was probably my favorite aspect of the movie; you know you've got a great, well-written villain when you can actually understand their motivation and - to one degree or another - sympathize with them.

By the end of the movie, you had the sense than Thanos legitimately thought he was doing the right thing and was balancing everything out.

I have tickets for this weekend at the really fancy pants theater.

I could have seen it at a regular theater with Movie Pass (which, btw, looks like it may be having issues since it is losing money hand over fist and maybe changing the way they charge in the future and limiting the number of movies and stuff) but I knew this was one of those EVENT movies.

So fancy theater it is.

Yea, movie pass seemed doomed to fail from the start, like a ponzi-scheme for movies. Glad to hear the movie is good. Can't wait to see it.

MoviePass is no longer 'too good to be true' for new members (only four movies a month now, not one a day). For members under the old 'movie a day' plan such as myself, it's diminished in value in that they have ended multiple viewings of the same film. In practice this will help save them money on folks like myself who would see a film again if they loved it.

We're still riding the wave, but the wave has diminished and is in danger of dying out. When it does, we'll walk away having saved many hundreds and seen dozens of films for next to nothing. I'm hoping it will survive to the fall. It could never survive as it was structured when I bought in. Bleeding ten million or more a month isn't good business, lol.

There is a new one out called Sinemia that is $15 a month, gives you 3 movies a month but expands the types of movies to 3D and IMAX shows too. That seems pretty competitive with the new Movie Pass. One less movie but you aren't limited to the ghetto screens in the theaters like you are with Movie Pass.

It seems their plan was that it would be something akin to a gym membership? People would pay for it, and then as time would go by they would use it less and less but still continue to pay. But I'm guessing that wasn't happening, or at least not in enough quantities so they had to take drastic action. That being said for a lot of people $9.95 isn't bad for 4 movies, hell it's not a bad deal for one movie in my area where the nearest theaters are charging $12.95+ for the basic no frill movie tickets. But the luster of joining has diminished and even at 4 movies a month I fear they're just delaying the inevitable.

I agree with everything you said; Thanos' character development was a fresh take on the super villain- he was a total bad-ass. Watching Thor decimate a field of enemies was also fantastic.

I also saw it Thursday night... couldn't wait.

Fresh? I don't know about that the only thing missing from this current thanos is his ability to articulate. In the comics he's a genius that speaks similar to the architect in the matrix but that would admittedly be a bit much to hear a villain talk like that all the time in movies. So he was dumbed down which is liveable because the they kept what was thanos in spirit right. It'll all work out in the end.
