New BioWare IP Delayed

Game Informer has the story.

Quote:
Announced today on an Electronic Arts investor earnings call, BioWare's upcoming action title that features live service and a "disruptive new social design" has been pushed back to FY19. The title was originally slated for a 2018 release.

To learn what BioWare is revealing about the mysterious game at this point, click here to learn from BioWare's general manager Aaryn Flynn about how the new project is coming along.

An announcement for the delay of a unannounced game. Fuck Bioware.

Didn't think there was any chance of a release by next March, that seemed really ambitious for the supposed scale and lack of info. Guess there's still a chance of seeing it by end of year 2018, but no surprise if this turns up in 2019.

Hopefully we'll still see something at E3. Way more interested in what DICE and Visceral are working on right now though, and I kinda expect whatever Bioware is working on will be massively overshadowed by the stuff we should be hearing about from Bethesda.

What the fuck is "live service?"

I'm assuming that disruptive social design means everything has a dick on it.

Disruptive social design sounds like a new buzz phrase for Asshole Simulator, aka Rust / DayZ. Which may or may not have dicks all over it based on your preferences.

Anything claiming to include social media as part of the game design is almost destined for failure from the word "Go."

People play games, people use social media, the twain shall never meet.

is there anything left of BioWare that people might be excited about? A couple of bad Star Wars games, bad Mass Effect Games and a bad Dragon Age game. They had a lot going on, now they seem to have nothing.

In related news and possibly the most unsurprising thing ever, nearly the entire team at Bioware Montreal responsible for the horrendous Mass Effect Andromeda has been transferred to different studios and taken off Mass Effect indefinitely. Only a handful remain to provide "support".

I don't think "horrendous" is even remotely appropriate for ME:A; sure, it wasn't as good as the original trilogy, but there are plenty who seem to be enjoying it.

Plenty of people seem to be enjoying No Man's Sky. Plenty of people enjoyed Aliens Colonial Marines. All horrendous.

Plenty of people enjoy vomiting intentionally after eating...and some may even enjoy consuming it again it as well. Appeals to a population of folks who patronize a product do not necessarily correlate with excellence.

Also, a delayed BioWare IP? I'll have to get over my disap....woops, already over it. Screw them and the progressive horse they rode in on.

"Live Service" usually means that the game is constantly being tweaked and enhanced based on how players are playing the game. So they feature frequent content updates, regular events and have a huge emphasis on social interaction/competition. MMOs have been doing this since forever, but we are starting to see these kind of things affect single player experiences. For example, Final Fantasy XV has weekly hunts and there was limited time Chocobo festival event.

ME:A a few bad animations aside is no worse than Mass Effect 3, and has a better ending to boot. It's no where near as bad as what you're proposing.

Let me translate that for you. "I'm going to judge a game based on the internet telling me it's bad because they didn't like xx feature" to be honest the SJW shit being associated with ME:A is blown so far out of proportion it's eye roll inducing.
