Star Wars Battlefront 2 Campaign is '5-7 Hours' Long

PC Gamer has the story.

Quote:
Electronic Arts is putting a good chunk of effort into promoting the campaign side of Star Wars Battlefront 2. The tale of Inferno Squad's retaliation against the Rebellion for blowing up Death Star 2.0 and snuffing the Emperor, set up in the recently-released single-player trailer, looks very promising. Just don't expect it to last very long.

"We thought that around 5-7, maybe 8 hours is probably a good amount of time," producer David Robillard told Press Start. "We wanted to stay very driven towards the Star Wars fantasy that the players are going to experience and not have it be drawn out."

Robillard added that EA isn't ready yet to commit to story-based DLC for the game (there won't be a season pass), saying that the likelihood of an expansion will be "based on the reception the single player has."

So average shooter length. That's not bad at all. I was worried it be more like 3 hrs. Probably a good rental.

Yah about the same as every other DICE singleplayer.

It better be "maybe 8."

That would be unusual from my experience of DICE single player offerings.

I bet that if I played it, it'd be more like 12 to 15 hours*. I don't know how (and why) everyone else is doing this, but I simply can't bring myself to run through games. I like to look at things, listen to dialog, experiment with weapons, car setups, moves and tactics, and complete as many mini games as possible. Whenever I see someone claim that they finished a "Final Fantasy" or "Yakuza" game in 20 to 30 hours, I both envy and pity them.

Upside: I rarely have to replay story-based games, because I tend to remember most of the details.

Downside: A huge backlog and many unplayed titles.

*) Maybe more, because I suck at shooters. I think CoD:MW2 took me 15+ hours as well.

Same here. Uncharted games took me like 30 hours each, because I wanted to see everything: The paths, the waterfalls, the architecture. The way I see it...they made it and I paid for it...so I'm going to enjoy it!

That said, this game will be a discount purchase down the road. I bought the first one for used $5 and PROBABLY got my money's worth. Not risking much on the sequel.

Yeah, 5 hours probably means 10 hours for me too.

Companies underestimate because they get their estimates from people who played the game forever in QA or development and then buffered by 50%. They don't account for stopping, or deaths, or anything else that deviates significantly from critical path.

Reviewers will often undershoot the amount of time a game takes to play because it's their business to play games and they are good at them.

The gods of the internet will tell you "2 hr on super awesome unbeatable mode... with no deaths, first time I played it" to measure their penis. But we all know those people are bullshitting. They beat it on super easy mode if they finished at all.

Whatever the developer says always cut the number in half for something closer to reality. Aside from that the story WILL BE SHIT and multiplayer abandoned in 6 months.
