I was reading some article about System Shock 2 and I kept thinking about a game that was ahead of it's technology. I would love to see Irrational ( or a hungry new developer tackle it, like DE: Human Revolution) take another crack at it. Or would they run into "Special Edition" territory, improving things that don't need improving( the argument that some things are as they are because of creative problem solving due to lack of technology/time)? Can you think of any games that would benifit from a redo? I cite SS2 as my example, but on the other end of the spectrum, I don't want to see a remake of Planescape: Torment. That was a game that worked best as it was made.
Opinions?
(i guess i just really want a system shock 2 remake)
Tekken Tag...well it is already gonna be remade (yay)
Def Jam Fight For New York...with more custom options a secondary story mode/female main char? Put Kanye in it so that I can fuck him up and well that would be a great game.

Wing Commander 3. I want space combat games to come back, damn it, and WC3 was my favorite of them. Great story, characters, missions, the game had it all. You could keep the FMV cut scenes, clean them up, and then toss in a new graphics engine for the combat and you would be good to go.
Hell, space combat, give me the whole star wars set of them remade. I would take tie fighter all over again.
Here's the thing. X-Wing holds a very special place in my heart as being not only my first Space Combat game, but also the game that made me a life long PC Gamer and started me down this gaming path. Freespace 2 is pretty much the epitome of kinetic space combat.
But Wing Commander 3 far surpasses them in terms of story telling and atmosphere. When you're in a cockpit flying against an enemy, who is more memorable to you: Alpha 2 and 3, Red 2 and 3, or Maniac and Hobbes? The answer, of course, is Maniac and Hobbes, and that's why I would take Wing Commander 3 being remade.
I think a great deal of the games fro around 2000 were cases of ideas too big for their technology. I could go for a little Shogo (anyone remember that?), redo Rainbow Six, proper, with all the planning, people management (I hated getting those new faceless recruits). X-Wing vs Tie Fighter (I remember thinking you'd attack a scale deathstar...HA)
Remake them in the spirit of the original. Don't make a tactical shooter System Shock 2, or an action RB6 (whoops, they already did). Just make them as close as they were (while not being terribly dated) with all of today's technology and production values.
Anachronox? Was that any good? Worthy of a remake?
