Called Wi-Vi, it's a motion-detector that uses wifi signals to see through walls and other solid-objects and can track motion thereby, see video:

Haha, it's the first thing that came to mind as I watched the video ^_^
The Aliens version supposedly worked on micro-pressure differentials in the air or something like that. But it's clear to me from the sine-readout that this device could make exactly that movement display the space-marine is holding.

The great thing is that they won't use the wave as the primary means of display once this gets more mature. There will be some other kind of representation.
Wow, we are literally dooming ourselves with technology.

I've been using wi-fi to track people in our retail stores for over a year now. My team has created a mobile app that gets users to sign on to the "Free" network. From there we can track them through the many wireless access points. We can even see if they are show-rooming, us, what sites they are on, and what is in there shopping cart at various other sites. Motorola is our partner on this, and they have helped deploy this system and app integration to many other stores including Sears which they used as an example of their services in use.
Bottom line never hop onto a store's network!

We do this too actually, along with PDA alerts when an area becomes overcrowded.
