Looks fun, for sure. We're definitely going to see a few characters bite the bullet this time around, with an obvious one being Vision. Oh, and $5 says the Soul Stone is in Wakanda.

The crappy part is that Black Panther will probably get largely overshadowed by this one.

I am so bored with the whole "giant battle scene full of semi-randomized CGI soldiers" you see in every single movie now. Lord of the Rings showed that it was possible, but really you just don't need it in every single movie.

This is just movie 1 of 12 or something. It looks good and seems like it is getting back to the more serious, less slapstick side we've seen in the movies in the last year but I'm not getting my hopes up.

On the other hand if they did the whole thing in one movie I feel like it would cheapen the whole effort they've been building up to over the last 5 or 6 years and they'd never have the chance to let all the heroes shine. They barely have enough chance to let that happen in Guardians and the Avengers already.

Spider sense finally. Spoilers in the trailer as well, nice (so Loki did take the cube, not that it was much of a surprise).

The MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe) is probably (to me at least) the greatest long-term franchise that has ever hit the silver screen. They over-saturate the market with at least 3 movies a year, and still I look forward to every movie that comes out. I don't know how Disney keeps doing it, I just hope they keep doing it.

Maybe DC needs to look at licensing to them...

I don't think there's really any "getting back to", per se. I think that all of the Cap movies have been tonally consistent. Aside from Thor, I don't think any of the films have really lane changed, tonally. I think that they just had a few of the goofier ones in a row.

DC will come around as soon as they stop employing people who hate their characters. I have NO idea why that sounded like a good idea to them.

Whedon, as much as I'm not a big fan of his, will at least finally give us REAL versions of their characters as opposed to "How do we take as little of this comic book as possible and sell it to people as Superman?"

I agree. War isn't exactly a thing where "the bigger the better". And The Avengers don't fight wars. Why are they fighting wars?

My big worry for this film is that it suffers the same problem as Civil War in that it fails to feature enough regular people.

Super heroes aren't super if they exist in a world where everybody has powers and can "kick ass". Then it just becomes this weird pro-wrestling thing that is much less interesting.

That's probably the reason. Guardians and Thor so close together was too much "silly" humor without a good dose of serious between them.

Spiderman didn't exactly cut it as far as a palette cleanser between Guardians and Thor.

You mean like Black Widow and Hawkeye or civilians or SHIELD types? You want something like Man of Steel where buildings are falling around people's ears and people on the streets are running around? I personally liked the first Avengers where they had vignettes like Captain America going into the train station and saving a bunch of people but I didn't like the disaster porn of Man of Steel as much. It wasn't as intimate.

Yeah, but more like in "Thor: The Dark World/Kingdom"'s London. Less bodycount, more students (ugh:-) that need to be saved, and useless F-22s...

I just mean regular people being regular people. My absolute favorite part of Winter Soldier was when the Hydra spy (who winds up being Crossbones) demands that the Shield agent launch the rogue Helicarriers and Captain America comes on the speakers telling everyone that they need to resist. The guy is just like, "I'm not going to do that." and Crossbones is like, "I am going to kill you and then I'm going to make this other guy do it, so just do it" and the guys like, "No."

I almost rolled a tear in that scene. THAT'S what I want out of superhero movies. Actual heroism. People doing the right thing. People fighting for an ideal.

Civil War, as entertaining as it was, featured almost nothing but "ass kicking". The scene when Sharon Carter starts beating people up like she's Captain America is where the movie almost jumped the shark for me. I've read comics all my life and, perhaps ironically, I've never read one for "ass kicking". I like costumes. I like action. I like tough talk. But what I come for is the heroism of people trying to do the right thing.

Weird Spiderman factoid: I saw a thing where they commented that Tom Holland patterned his character of Peter Parker after Marty McFly. I found that astonishing since, after I hear it, I realized Holland is doing a dead-on Michael J. Fox impression. I hadn't noticed but once you see it, it's hard not to see it.

Hey look, the Avengers are finally not in Times Square or a warehouse in some random days old Eastern European country.

Trailer totally reminds me of the LOTR movies. Watched Spiderman Homecoming a few weeks back and enjoyed it because that movie is the opposite of whatever they've been doing lately. Fewer, better characters and a more contained story without so much extra baggage. I could have used less Iron Man, though. They will have to pull a miracle out of their asses to make sure the overstuffed Avengers Infinity War doesn't feel rushed, everyone has enough screentime to make us care, and the story has an actual beginning, middle and satisfying conclusion in the two hours whatever minutes they are aiming for. Fell asleep during Age of Ultron and Civil War.

Good or bad, I'm excited to go see this one. I enjoy blockbusters like this in the theaters. I just hope the CGI is great.

I bought Wonder Woman 4k Bluray for $7 at Best Buy this weekend, and the CGI is absolutely awwwwful. It's 2017, how are we still seeing such shitty CG?

I haven't looked into Wonder Woman specifically, but many times when the CGI in a big budget movie is shit it's because one of the producers convinced the film company to hire a relatively unknown CG studio to do the work. Coincidentally that producer is either related to the studio owner or owns shares in the studio. Millions of dollars regularly disappears and the work is rushed out.

ILM has been handling the CG for the Marvel movies for years.
