Gamespot has the first look at Super Street Fighter IV... featuring some of the same screenshots we saw earlier today. The most important piece of news is that this will be a retail disc, won't be full priced, and if you already own Street Fighter IV, you'll get some secret incentive that Capcom isn't talking about quite yet. Look for this during Spring of next year.

Before we dive in, we should explain what Super Street Fighter IV is, and more importantly, what it isn't. This is not a downloadable add-on for Street Fighter IV. You may be wondering, as we did, why Capcom didn't simply release Super Street Fighter IV's additions as downloadable content in the same way that Fallout and Grand Theft Auto IV received massive updates by way of DLC. However, Capcom has decided that the new game will come on a separate disc. Ono explained that when Street Fighter IV was originally being developed, certain aspects of the game code weren't laid out in such a way as to support the features that are being added in Super Street Fighter IV. While Capcom had initially considered making SSFIV's content a download pack of some kind, it became clear that just tacking the new content onto the old game wasn't going to be possible. As a result, SSFIV will be released as a standalone disc that won't be sold at full price. But, the producer explained, before you get rid of your SFIV disc, be advised that SSFIV will offer current SFIV owners a bonus that Capcom isn't revealing at this time.
Yeah, I'll totally freakin' buy it... Even though I hate T.Hawk.
I don't... I don't understand. They built the game without the ability to upgrade it during development, so they had to release a new version with more content? I call bullshit.
In fact, I'll bet money they end up charging full price for it.

Wow, starting shit much? They said it's not going to be full priced, it's not going to be full priced. Capcom isn't one much for fucking people over ala the previously stated add-on content developers. I prefer this to the 20 dollar gouging that Bethesda is charging for their DLC.
Besides, if you were born in the 80's or earlier you'll already know that Street Fighter never comes out with just one iteration per generation.

This, BlazBlue: Continuum Shift... the age of fighters is once again upon us and that means incrimental updates.
This may miff some people but for the die-hard fighting fans I believe they are ultimately happy that all the process of continual tweaks and revisions that produced titles like Third Strike and GGXX#Reload are still in effect.
This is particularly important for BlazBlue considering some of its balance issues and bugs (Carl's infinite loop for example) but Street Fighter IV also needed some tightening up. Mind you I'm not going to hold my breath in the belief that Capcom actually have it in their power to create a Sagat that isn't God tier. :P

If I'd been drinking milk when reading this, it would have come out my nose. Capcom -invented- the art of re-selling full versions of the same fighting game over and over, typically with only small changes between iterations. SF2 -> SF2T was basically the SAME GAME sold at full price twice on the SNES. Same thing with SSF2 -> SSF2T. I bought SSF2 on the PC first because I'd read that SSF2T was going to be exclusive to the 3D0. Then sure enough, there it was on the PC. Same game, except for the addition of Supers, some tweaks, and Akuma.
Don't even get me started on the Alphas. (Although I did love me some Zero 2 Alpha.)

Oh, that being said. If they charge more than $40 for this, then there's not a chance in the world I'll pick it up, Street Fighter whore though I may be. But deep down, I know the cheapest it has a chance of going for is $50.

I love the gaming industry. I also love Enig. Thank you, Enig!

You know, there's an interesting thing that patience gets you...Oblivion, for $20, with all the DLC included...and soon to arrive, a Fallout 3 with all the DLC included which will eventually hit $20 as well.

It's called impulse control.
Actually, I'm still waiting for Elder Scrolls 4: GoTY to hit $20. Has anyone seen it anywhere for that?

Console games have a ten dollar racketeering...uh, I mean licensing...fee from the platform manufacturer, so it will be a bit before Oblivion hits $20 on the 360, but it will eventually do so.
I reckon the SFIV experience is much more fun with some sort of arcade stick. Given that you want easy access to at least six buttons my personal opinion is that standard controllers don't cut it. If you are going to put plenty of hours into fighting games, I think a stick is totally worth the money.
I'm looking forward to this. SF revisions always add something new and better to the mix. I wonder if i'll get to reap the rewards of owning SFIV even though I own it on PS3 and will probably get SSFIV for 360.

I'm down for this release, totally. I bought IV and loved it. I'm not very keen on them releasing the modifications as DLC anyway, as I enjoy archiving the different versions of a fighting game. A DLC upgrade would modify the gameplay and make my current game...something else.
I know, I know. "The changes make the game better." But that's not always the case, as anybody who actually plays these games will tell you. Not everyone enjoys the various nerfs they implement with successive versions. There is no denying that throughout the history of fighting games, later editions/renditions are not always embraced as the 'better' version.

I would've liked the SFIV if the Super Easy (or whatever it's called) mode wasn't still insanely difficult. I'm NOT GOOD at fighting games, but I want to have fun with one. I didn't even make it to Justin, or Darrel, or Kurt, or whatever the hell the boss's name is.

No offense, but if they made super easy actually EASIER it would be hit a button and you win. On the easiest the the computer block only extremely rarely. You can just low-kick your way to the boss most times.
