Lara Croft, the fiercely independent daughter of a missing adventurer, must push herself beyond her limits when she finds herself on the island where her father disappeared.

From Warner Bros. Pictures and Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Pictures, Tomb Raider is the story that will set a young and resolute Lara Croft on a path toward becoming a global hero. The film stars Oscar winner Alicia Vikander (Ex Machina, The Danish Girl) in the lead role, under the direction of Roar Uthaug (The Wave), with Oscar-winner Graham King (The Departed) producing under his GK Films banner. The film¹s production begins on the heels of the 20th anniversary of the wildly popular videogame franchise from Square Enix, Crystal Dynamics and Eidos Montreal.

Tomb Raider also stars Dominic West (Money Monster, 300), Walton Goggins (The Hateful Eight, Django Unchained) and Daniel Wu (AMC¹s Into the Badlands).

Jan 18, 2018 - 8:29 AM - by IGXGamingTV

Not a fan of Telltale games as I just don’t have the patience, but I do love their visuals and I like how the games are very story driven. If you are a Batman fan and love Telltale games, they just released a trailer for the launch of season four. Per the press release …

Episode four, 'What Ails You,' continues the second season of the acclaimed adventure series from Telltale Games, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, and DC Entertainment.

Today we are excited to share the official trailer for the penultimate episode of Batman: The Enemy Within, the ongoing five-part episodic game series that continues Telltale's unique take on the World's Greatest Detective. You can download the trailer by following the links above. Episode four, 'What Ails You,' launches Tuesday, January 23 on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PC, Mac, and mobile.

When the Pact puts its plan into motion, Bruce's cover is finally blown, and as his web of lies unravels, new questions emerge: When and how will the Pact regroup? What's truly motivating Amanda Waller and the Agency? And perhaps most importantly, how will John Doe handle the truth about his buddy Bruce? With another showdown brewing, the clown prince of crime may finally earn his crown...

Rendered to look like a living, breathing comic book, Telltale's vision of Batman features an award-winning cast of talent including Troy Baker, who returns to reprise his role as Bruce Wayne, as well as Anthony Ingruber, who reprises his fresh take on 'John Doe,' better known to fans as The Joker.

This new season is intended to be accessible to both returning fans and newcomers alike, though players' choices from the first season of Batman: The Telltale Series will optionally carry over into The Enemy Within. This season also includes Telltale's unique multiplayer 'Crowd Play' feature, which allows friends and family to engage with the adventure together by helping to decide the direction of the story from any mobile device with an internet connection.

Overwatch League Hits 10 Million Viewers In First Week
Jan 18, 2018 - 8:16 AM - by Emabulator

Game Informer has the story.

Blizzard has bet big on the Overwatch League, the competitive Overwatch tournament, and it seems like that bet is paying off. According to GamesIndustry.Biz, Blizzard's esports event won the viewership of ten million people in its opening week.

Although Blizzard has always been moderately involved with esports, the Overwatch League is their biggest push ever, treating it as a sport equal to any other. The ten million number only includes devices tuned into to the various streams, indicating that even more people could have been actually watching.

The most popular match? Dallas Fuel vs Seoul Dynasty, which boasted an audience of 437,000 viewers on the first day, a record which has yet to be beaten.

Build and Inspire with Nintendo Labo
Jan 17, 2018 - 6:55 PM - by IGXGamingTV

I guess I’m getting old, but when I want to play video games I want to do exactly that, play video games. I’m not, however, looking forward to breaking down old U-Haul boxes to make different things to essentially play a video game. Nevertheless, hats off to Nintendo for trying to get the kiddos involved to be creative, but this old man just wants to play Zelda while drinking a beer, unless I can make a card board beer holder.

Per the press release:

REDMOND, Wash., Jan. 17, 2018 – Introducing Nintendo Labo, a new line of interactive build-and-play experiences designed to inspire kids and those who are kids-at-heart. Building on the 129-year history of Nintendo, which is rooted in innovative entertainment and game-play experiences, Nintendo Labo continues the company’s mission of putting smiles on people’s faces.

Together with the Nintendo Switch system (sold separately), the Nintendo Labo kits provide the tools and technology to MAKE fun DIY creations, PLAY games with your creations and DISCOVER how the magic of Nintendo Switch technology shapes ideas into reality.

With each Nintendo Labo kit, kids can transform modular sheets of cardboard – specially designed to interact with the Nintendo Switch console and Joy-Con controllers – into creations called Toy-Con. From a piano to a motorbike, a robot and more, each Toy-Con comes to life when combined with Nintendo Switch in different ways. As you build, you will have fun discovering how the technology works, and might even invent new ways to play with each Toy-Con!

For example, you can build a functioning 13-key piano that brings your musical creations to life once the Nintendo Switch console and Right Joy-Con controller are inserted. As you play, the IR Motion Camera in the Right Joy-Con detects which keys are pressed and translates them into unique notes that are heard through the console. You can even take control of your very own motorbike by constructing a functioning set of handlebars, with a Joy-Con inserted in each side and the Nintendo Switch console cradled in the middle. Simply hit the ignition button, turn the right handle to engage the accelerator and watch your adventure unfold on the Nintendo Switch screen, as you race to new destinations.

Assassins Creed Origins Season Pass and Discovery Tour DLC Release Dates Announced
Jan 17, 2018 - 10:58 AM - by Evil Avatar

The Hidden Ones, the First Downloadable Content for Assassins Creed Origins, Will Release on January 23rd

Today, Ubisoft announced that The Hidden Ones, the first downloadable content (DLC) for Assassin’s Creed Origins, will launch on January 23rd, 2018, on all platforms. Ubisoft also revealed release dates for upcoming Assassin’s Creed Origins post-launch content, including season pass content and free add-on content, available to all players. Players can continue their journey through Ancient Egypt with a wide variety of content, including several hours of new storyline expansions and quests, timed events and customisation items.

DLC 1 - The Hidden Ones: This story-driven expansion builds upon the growth of the Brotherhood, taking players four years after the events of Assassin’s Creed Origins, as they clash with an occupying Roman force in a new region of the world, the Sinai. This expansion will increase the level cap to 45, allowing players to continue to upgrade and customise their character. Players will have access to four new Legendary weapons, a new outfit, two new mounts and multiple new weapons, as well as two new levels for all crafted gear. The Hidden Ones DLC is available for all season pass owners or can be purchased separately on January 23, 2018.

Discovery Tour by Assassin’s Creed: Ancient Egypt: This new educational mode of the game lets everyone, from players to history-enthusiasts and non-gamers, choose between free roaming the beautiful world of Ancient Egypt to learn more about its history and daily life, or embarking on guided tours curated by historians and Egyptologists. People can discover and explore a world free of conflict, time pressure or gameplay constraints, where storyline and quests are not active and the world of Ancient Egypt evolves into a combat-free living museum.

Discovery Tour will be available as a free update for all Assassin’s Creed Origins owners and will be available for purchase separately on Uplay and Steam for Windows PC on February 20th, 2018.

DLC 2 - The Curse of the Pharaohs: This new expansion offers players a completely new storyline to delve into as they travel to Thebes to investigate an ancient curse that is plaguing the region. The Curse of the Pharaohs focuses on Egyptian mythology, pitting players against famous pharaohs and Egyptian beasts, as they investigate the cause of the curse that has brought the dead pharaohs back to life. This new piece of content will increase the level cap to 55 and give players access to new outfits and gear, including rare and legendary weapons, all themed around classic Egyptian mythology. The Curse of the Pharaohs DLC will be available for season pass owners, or can be purchased separately, on March 6th, 2018.

The season pass is included in the Assassin’s Creed Origins Gold Edition and, in addition to the two pieces of DLC, includes the Horus Pack and Roman Centurion Pack with their own set of weapons, mounts and outfits, a legendary weapon and 500 Helix credits. The season pass is also available for purchase separately.

Additionally, a wide variety of free content, including Trials of the Gods and a new quest, Incoming Threat; a prelude to DLC 1 The Hidden Ones, in which players must head-off an incoming incursion and find where its coming from, will be available for all Assassin’s Creed Origins players.

Sources: Microsoft Plots Fable Return
Jan 17, 2018 - 9:09 AM - by Emabulator

Eurogamer has the story.

Work is underway on a brand new, big-budget Fable game, Eurogamer can reveal.

Fable franchise owner Microsoft has tasked UK developer Playground, which makes the Forza Horizon racing games for Xbox and PC, with creating this new Fable, sources close to the project have told Eurogamer. Microsoft said in a statement it does not comment on rumour or speculation.

We've heard the new Fable is planned as a story and character-focussed open-world action RPG. A significant investment in its development is also planned, with some 200 people set to work on the game at Playground's newly-established second office in Leamington Spa, Warwickshire.

Don't expect to play this new Fable any time soon, however. We've heard it's early days in terms of development, with Playground currently staffing up the team from double digits to its triple digit target.

'Flash' Movie to Be Directed by 'Spider-Man: Homecoming' Screenwriters
Jan 17, 2018 - 8:56 AM - by Emabulator

The Hollywood Reporter has the story.

John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein are staying in the superhero game.

The screenwriting duo behind Sony and Marvel's Spider-Man: Homecoming are moving over to DC and are in talks to direct Warner Bros.' Flashpoint movie, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed. The studio declined to comment.

The film will star Ezra Miller, reprising his role as Barry Allen/The Flash from Justice League. The Flash solo film has previously had two other directors attached. Dope filmmaker Rick Famuyiwa left in October 2016 over "creative differences.” His exit followed that of Seth Grahame-Smith, who had written the script and was attached to helm.

Daley and Goldstein were largely known for penning comedies such as Horrible Bosses and writing and directing 2015's Vacation before last year's Spider-Man, which earned more than $880 million worldwide. They also directed Jason Bateman and Rachel McAdams' Game Night, a film that blends the thriller/comedy genres and is set to open Feb. 23.

Rumor: Latest South Park Title Coming To Nintendo Switch
Jan 16, 2018 - 1:01 PM - by Emabulator

Game Informer has the story.

According to a retailer listing, Ubisoft's newest South Park title, The Fractured But Hole, might be coming to the Nintendo Switch fairly soon.

The listing comes from Australian retailer Sanity, which put up mention of the game in their "Coming Soon" section with a March 13 release date. The date is a Tuesday, but there's a two-in-seven chance for dates to fall on traditional game release days, so it does not necessarily confirm anything.

Retail listings as a whole tend not to confirm anything, but Ubisoft has a history of ports and remasters leaking early. South Park: The Fractured But Whole, unlike the previous game, runs on Ubisoft's Snowdrop engine, which was ported to the Switch with Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle, so there should not be a ton of work getting the game to run.

The Spawn Movie Will Be More R-Rated Than Deadpool, Creator Says
Jan 16, 2018 - 12:11 PM - by Emabulator

GameSpot has the story.

Comic book legend and Spawn creator Todd McFarlane has been trying to get a new movie version of his demonic anti-hero into production for some time. Last year, it was reported that Blumhouse Film, the producers of such hits as Get Out and Split, would produce the movie. The film has yet to start shooting, but McFarlane has further hinted at what fans can expect from it.

Speaking at the ACE Comic-Con, McFarlane explained that his movie would be very different from other recent R-rated comic book adaptations. "It's funny in Hollywood, if you say you want to do an R-rated movie, they go like 'Oh like Deadpool and like Logan?'" he said, via The Playlist. "For me, no. Deadpool, to me, was a PG-13 action movie. It just had some naked butts and a couple f-bombs. Other than that, I thought it was the same PG-13 formula.

"I'm talking R. I'm talking that there will not be a lot of fun, there will not be any stupid lines in it. I never like my hero to make a joke right when the jeopardy was at its highest. I felt that if my hero wasn't afraid right now, why should I be? I want my heroes to go 'S**t, what do I do now?'"

The Bosses Of Quantic Dream Are Accused Of Inappropriate Behavior
Jan 16, 2018 - 6:45 AM - by BeardedSonOfNel

Via Business Insider

Reports from a number of French publications (which we saw via Eurogamer) have made serious allegations about a reportedly "unhealthy studio culture" at Quantic Dream, a game development studio that primarily focuses on titles for Sony's PlayStation.

Some anonymous staff members mentioned the two studio heads in particular, David Cage and Guillaume de Fondaumière, and accused them of "inappropriate behaviour, overworking staff and colluding in — or at least turning a blind eye to — a schoolboy culture involving sexist and racist jokes," Eurogamer reported.

"The most shocking [images] present Quantic Dream's collaborators in sexual positions, adorned with homophobic or sexist slurs, or even made up to look like Nazis," said Le Monde's report, as translated by Eurogamer.

The original reports say that a collection of around 600 of these images were circulated in internal emails, with Cage and de Foundaumière as recipients. Cage in particular is described as a hard person to work with; he's somewhat ironically referred to as "Papa," "Sun King," and even "God" internally, the reports said.

The Walking Dead Changes Showrunner Amidst Falling Ratings
Jan 15, 2018 - 5:26 PM - by Emabulator

GameSpot has the story.

AMC's zombie drama The Walking Dead is changing showrunners. It has been reported that Scott Gimple will leave the role he has occupied since 2013, and will be replaced by Angela Kang, who has previously worked on the show as a writer.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Gimple will now serve as chief content officer for the Walking Dead media franchise, which also includes the spin-off show Fear the Walking Dead, as well as "gaming and future brand extensions on a variety of platforms." Kang has worked on the show since 2011, and has written over 20 episodes. She will take over at the start of Season 9, which is expected to premiere in the fall.

This change of personnel comes at a time of falling ratings for The Walking Dead. The 7.9 million broadcast viewers of the mid-season finale last month was the lowest number since Season 2's in 2011. This is in comparison to the 10.58 million viewers that watched the mid-season of Season 7 in 2016, and nearly half of what the equivalent episode achieved for Season 5 in 2014.

Ubisoft Unveils Assassin’s Creed: Rogue Remastered, Hitting Shelves March 20th

Today, Ubisoft announced that Assassin’s Creed Rogue Remastered will be available on March 20th, 2018, for PlayStation 4 Pro and Playstation 4 computer entertainment systems, and across the Xbox One family of devices, including Xbox One X. Assassin’s Creed Rogue Remastered will include all of the downloadable content from the original game: two bonus missions (The Armor of Sir Gunn Quest and The Siege of Fort de Sable), as well as the Master Templar and Explorer packs, which contain weapons, customisation items and special outfits, including Bayek’s legacy outfit from Assassin’s Creed Origins.

Created by Ubisoft Sofia, the studio that developed the original Assassin’s Creed Rogue, this remaster further enriches the franchise’s current-gen catalogue, and the game will shine in 4K on PlayStation 4 Pro and Xbox One X (and run 1080p on PS4™ and Xbox One). Thanks to the higher resolution, improved environment rendering, visual effects and textures, Assassin’s Creed Rogue Remastered will offer an even more beautiful and immersive gaming experience that invites fans of the series and new players alike to discover, or rediscover, Shay’s adventures in 18th century North America.

Initially launched on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in 2014, Assassin’s Creed Rogue tells the unique story of Shay Patrick Cormac, a fearless young member of the Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood, who undergoes a dark transformation from an Assassin to a grim and committed Templar who hunts down his former brothers. Players’ journeys will take them from beautiful New York City to the Wild River Valley and icy cold waters of the North Atlantic.

Assassin’s Creed is an action-adventure series set in fully realised open world environments throughout notable times in history, such as the Third Crusade, the Golden Age of Pirates and the Industrial Revolution. Initially launched in 2007, the Assassin’s Creed franchise has since transcended video games to offer new and immersive experiences in comic books, mobile games, novels and even movies. Recognised for having some of the richest, most engrossing storytelling in the industry, Assassin's Creed games have sold more than 105 million units worldwide, and the franchise is now established as one of the best-selling series ever.

DC's Shazam Movie Release Date Confirmed
Jan 13, 2018 - 7:24 PM - by Emabulator

Shazam is coming in April 2019. GameSpot has the story.

DC's upcoming superhero movie Shazam has an official release date. It will hit theaters on April 19, 2019, and is now the third confirmed movie on the the studio's slate together with this year's Aquaman and Wonder Woman 2, which arrives in November 2019.

The Shazam release date has been rumored for some time; DC first announced it back in 2014, but it subsequently disappeared from the schedule. Since then the studio has undergone much upheaval, with rumored films never happening and other ones cancelled, not to mention various changes of personnel behind-the-scenes.

Shazam will be directed by David F. Sandberg, who previously helmed the horror hits Annabelle: Creation and Light's Out. In October, Zachary Levi was announced in the lead role of Billy Batson. Levi is no stranger to the superhero genre--he is already part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, having played Fandral in Thor: The Dark World and Thor: Ragnarok.

PUBG Becomes Xbox One Sensation Surpassing 3 Million Players in a Month
Jan 13, 2018 - 6:56 PM - by Emabulator

Eurogamer has the story.

In one month, PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds - you might have heard of it - has amassed 3 million players on Xbox One. This doesn't equate exactly to sales (as many of you have pointed out - my apologies) as multiple accounts can access a game on an Xbox One. PUBG raced to 1 million players in 48 hours on Xbox One.

Microsoft announced the milestone overnight, clearly pleased with itself for bringing the gaming sensation of 2017 to Xbox One before Sony looks anywhere near doing similar for PlayStation 4.

Remember, PUBG is available unfinished on Xbox One via the Xbox Game Preview programme - a kind of early access service Sony does not offer in any form on PlayStation 4. Microsoft also worked on the Xbox One conversion itself, keen to strike while the iron was hot.

The plan is to have PUBG on PS4 eventually, though.

The John Wick TV Show Is Really Happening With Keanu Reeves As Executive Producer
Jan 12, 2018 - 5:31 PM - by Emabulator

"Chris Collins (Sons of Anarchy) will serve as writer and showrunner on The Continental, with Reeves and John Wick screenwriter Derek Kolstad among the executive producers." GameSpot has the story.

John Wick: Chapter 3 won't be in theaters until 2019, but the movie's universe is expanding. Starz has confirmed that it is currently developing a spin-off of the Keanu Reeves-starring action movie franchise. Previously, a TV adaptation had been in development as far back as June 2017, but now we know plans for the series are moving ahead.

The Continental will focus on the hotel for assassins from the first two John Wick films. In a press release, Starz says, "Set in a hyper-real version of Los Angeles, the series maintains the urgency of the action along with the dry humor from the John Wick movies."

"This series is truly unlike anything else on TV," Starz president and CEO Chris Albrecht says. "The Continental promises to include the thunderous fight sequences and intensely staged shootouts between professional assassins and their targets that fans have come to expect in the John Wick movie franchise as well as introducing some new, darkly compelling characters who inhabit this underground world."

Big Changes To Destiny 2's Eververse Microtransactions, Cosmetic Items Announced
Jan 11, 2018 - 6:54 PM - by Emabulator

GameSpot has the story.

As promised, Bungie has made a wide variety of announcements about changes on the way to Destiny 2. The developer has pledged to be more open about its development plans for the future, and among those are significant adjustments to Eververse and the items that are distributed through the microtransaction-based store.

Bungie acknowledged that "the scales are tipped too far towards Tess at the moment," referencing the in-game shopkeeper who runs Eververse. The store "was never intended to be a substitute for end-game content and rewards," which is what has become for dedicated players. To address this, Bungie outlined a number of changes in a new blog post.

For starters, Bungie says it's "shifting the balance of new content in favor of activity rewards over Bright Engrams," which are currently obtained by leveling up or purchasing them with real money. Activity rewards will now include things like Ghosts, Sparrows, and ships, which Bungie noted were only acquired through Bright Engrams recently. And while they'll no longer be the exclusive home for those items, there will be a "gameplay path" to obtaining Bright Engrams and their rewards. That change also applies to event-specific Engrams, like those offered during The Dawning, something that was a major criticism of the recently concluded event. Furthermore, Bungie intends to provide more ways of directly purchasing the items players want, rather than having to blindly purchase Bright Engrams in the hopes of getting what you're looking for.
What a clusterfuck! I get a headache just reading about the 'activity rewards' in Destiny 2. And for high end armor that is one stupid looking helmet.

Marvel's 'Black Widow' Movie Sets Writer
Jan 10, 2018 - 5:09 PM - by Emabulator

Jac Schaeffer is penning a script for the Scarlett Johansson film. The Hollywood Reporter has the story.

A solo film starring Black Widow, a project Marvel fans have been wanting for years, is taking a step forward.

Screenwriter Jac Schaeffer has been set to pen a script for the project, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed. The film, which would star Scarlett Johansson as the Marvel hero, is in early development.

Schaeffer wrote the script for the upcoming Dirty Rotten Scoundrels remake Nasty Woman starring Anne Hathaway and Rebel Wilson, and Hathaway is also attached to star in a film from Schaeffer's Black List alien invasion script The Shower. Schaeffer also wrote and directed the 2009 romantic sci-fi movie TiMER.

Johansson first played Natasha Romanoff (aka Black Widow) in 2010's Iron Man 2 and has reprised the role in a number of films, including the Avengers movies and most recently in 2016's Captain America: Civil War. She is set to appear in Avengers: Infinity War in May.

Both Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige and Johansson have long said they wanted to make a stand-alone movie centering on the character, a Russian spy-turned-superhero. Marvel will release its first female-toplined movie, Brie Larson's Captain Marvel, in 2019. Ironically, the Black Widow news comes just days after the trailer for Jennifer Larwrence's Russian spy drama Red Sparrow (which has nothing to do with Marvel), had people online joking that it seemed like a Black Widow origin story.

Blizzard Wants Overwatch League To Revolutionize Esports
Jan 10, 2018 - 4:58 PM - by Emabulator

GameSpot has the story.

There's been much anticipation for the first season of Blizzard Entertainment's Overwatch League. As its first effort at organizing a global competition, the developers behind the popular hero shooter are looking to take things to the next level by thrusting the game into the broader realm of esports. With 12 teams scattered across the world, each with their own unique management and sponsorships, Overwatch League blends together many ideas and practices that are commonplace in traditional sports, but within the esport arena.

Ahead of the kick-off for the first season of Overwatch League, lead producer Jeff Kaplan (who also serves as Overwatch's game director) and league commissioner Nate Nanzer spoke about their somewhat disruptive approach to traditional esports. During our talk, they discussed the importance that community and transparency have in their league and what their hopes are for this season and beyond. While Blizzard Entertainment has deep ties within esports thanks to StarCraft's immeasurable influence over its nearly 20-year history, Overwatch looks to be the start of a new page for the developer and its connection to the growth of its community.

Report: Microsoft Planning Xbox Career System with Avatar Loot Crate Rewards
Jan 10, 2018 - 4:24 PM - by Emabulator

Eurogamer has the story.

Microsoft is developing a new system to track your overall accomplishments on Xbox, currently dubbed your "career".

First details of the system have been uncovered by the reliable Windows Central. The discovery backs up previous comments from Xbox exec Mike Ybarra where he hinted at something similar in the pipeline.

The in-development feature currently looks like it is organised around levels, with quests for XP and rewards when you level up.

These rewards include loot crates with cosmetic items for your Xbox avatar.

Code relating to the unannounced feature suggests you'll rack up experience points and collect crates simply by playing specific games and unlocking achievements.

Microsoft already runs "quests" for using Xbox via other external schemes, such as its Feedback app and Rewards programme. Your career would presumably bake a similar and more overarching version of those into your console itself.

Today's report follows Ybarra's tease last summer - also to Windows Central - that Microsoft was working on a way to reflect your playtime and accomplishments better than the current achievements system.

Sea of Thieves Closed Beta Set for January 24th to 29th
Jan 10, 2018 - 10:51 AM - by Evil Avatar

Happy New Year, everyone! We’re back working hard on Sea of Thieves after the holidays and a December chock-full of announcements. We revealed March 20 as our launch date and made a star of an unsuspecting chicken with a swashbuckling trailer, kicked off pre-orders, revealed how you progress through the world of Sea of Thieves, and showed off our haunting Limited Edition controller. All that and we hosted our biggest ever Technical Alpha play session last month.

All hands are now back on deck here at Rare as we sail toward launch. We’ll have plenty to share, show off and celebrate before then, but we’re beginning 2018 with the announcement of our upcoming Closed Beta dates.

The Sea of Thieves Closed Beta will run from 12 p.m. GMT on January 24 to 8 a.m. GMT on January 29 (4 a.m. PST on January 24 to 12 a.m. PST on January 29), which gives pirates a full five days of sailing, shanties and shenanigans. We’ve crafted a bespoke experience for Closed Beta players that offers a true taste of the pirate life and a great chance to get your sea legs ahead of March 20! We won’t be testing the full game during this Closed Beta phase: we want to keep a good selection of things up our sleeves for players to discover at launch. So get your calendars out and get those dates pencilled in!

The Sea of Thieves Closed Beta will be accessible to anyone who joined the Sea of Thieves Insider Programme before December 1, 2017, and anyone who pre-orders the game. If you’ve already pre-ordered the game and want to find out how to download the Closed Beta client, visit our website.

One final thing: the Closed Beta will not be covered by an NDA, so players can stream, create videos, share clips, take screenshots or do anything else that their wonderful minds can come up with. Some of our favourites will no doubt be shared on Sea of Thieves’ social channels and website. I know a lot of players will be excited by this announcement – I am too! If you missed out on the Insider Programme, pre-order now to ensure access to the Closed Beta!

I skipped the alpha tests because an Xbox Live subscription was required -- even for the PC version!

Sci-fi Mystery Game The Station for PS4, Xbox One & PC Launches February 20th
Jan 09, 2018 - 10:55 AM - by Evil Avatar

The Station Spreads Sci-Fi Mystery to PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Windows, Mac, Linux on February 20

The Station, a first-person sci-fi mystery, will launch for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Windows, Mac and Linux on Feb. 20, 2018.

Developed by a team of AAA veterans, including Dave Fracchia, former Studio Head at Activision subsidiary Radical Entertainment, the Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning designer Les Nelkin, and BioShock Infinite and League of Legends composer Duncan Watt, The Station will take players across the universe and aboard a spacecraft orbiting a vicious alien world.

In the distant future the Espial Space Station, the most advanced spacecraft to explore beyond our atmosphere, monitors the alien planet of Psy-Prime. A small research crew of our best and brightest study the locals and evaluate the prospect of cohabitation. Soon after learning the intelligent natives are embroiled in perpetual savage war, Espial's cloaking and communication arrays suddenly go offline and never return.

Players are dispatched to investigate the mysterious circumstances. Upon arrival, much of Espial is without power and the crew have mysteriously vanished.

Only by using intuitive problem solving to restore function to the ship's core systems and keen observation of the digital logs of the missing team, all while dealing with the constant tension of whatever happened aboard The Espial reoccurring, can the player unravel the mystery behind the crew's sudden disappearance.

Navigating the sleek facility presents a "Progressive Sci-Fi" style evoking an optimistic view of space exploration, while the contemporary ambient soundtrack elicits isolating and unnerving emotions. With The Station, the development team strives to provide the new benchmark for atmospheric narratives.

"Our goal is to challenge what people expect from atmospheric mysteries," said Dave Fracchia, Executive Producer, The Station. "By abandoning player-driven dialogue we are able to replicate the emptiness and loneliness of space, while still enthralling with a pressure-packed mystery."

The Station will release in English and retail for $14.99 / £14.99.

HTC Announces Higher-Resolution Vive And Wireless Adapter
Jan 08, 2018 - 6:20 PM - by Emabulator

HTC has announced the Vive Pro. Game Informer has the story.

HTC today announced exciting new changes to the Vive, emphasizing both higher resolution and a wireless adapter.

The new headset, named the Vive Pro, boosts the resolution beyond the realm of existing VR headsets. upping the OLED displays to 2880 x 1600, which works out to 1400 x 1600 per eye and 615 pixels per inch. As a comparison to the other product where ppi is often mentioned, an iPhone X contains about 326 ppi on its screen, but the iPhone also isn't right on top of your eye. The new Vive resolution is a 78 percent increase from the 2160 x 1200 resolution of the current market's Vive.

The Vive Pro has also reformed the top headband for comfort, added a sizing dial for adjustments, integrated on-ear headphones built into the headset, and added dual-microphones and cameras to increase the capabilities inherited from the previous headset.

In addition, HTC has announced a wireless adapter to make the Vive wire-free and severely reduce risk of tripping over the cords. The adapter uses Intel's WiGig technology, which is explicitly designed to reduce latency and eliminate interference. The intention is to make a wireless headset unable to be discerned from a normal HDMI connection. The adapter will work for the existing Vive headset as well as the Vive Pro.

Intel's Core i7 with Radeon RX Vega Graphics: Full Specs Revealed
Jan 08, 2018 - 5:46 PM - by Emabulator

The Digital Foundry has the story.

Intel has revealed full specifications and product details for its upcoming Core i7 G products shipping with Radeon RX Vega graphics - the fruits of an unprecedented collaboration between Chipzilla and its arch-rival, AMD. A total of five different SKUs are in the offing, with spec and power differentials that target a range of notebook segments and the desktop market. At the heart of each product is a quad-core Intel processor paired with RX Vega M graphics offering between 2.6 to 3.7 teraflops of peak GPU power, combined with 4GB of HBM2 memory.

While five different versions of the new product are arriving, they are all based on the same core silicon with CPU clock-speed tweaks and adjustments to the speed, compute unit complement and memory bandwidth of the Radeon GPU. 100W and 65W power envelopes are the main differentiating factors here, where we should expect the former to run on larger 17-inch notebooks and desktops, with the latter skewed towards smaller laptop designs. In the run-up to the official reveal, there has been speculation that Intel would offer socketed versions of these Core i7 G processors so users could build their own systems. However, everything revealed today uses a BGA set-up, meaning that the chips are soldered onto supplied mainboards in ready-made machines.

The CPU side of the equation features a four-core, eight-thread design, offering single-core speeds of up to 4.2GHz in the flagship Core i7 8809G. There are four i7s in the line-up and one i5, yet all retain hyper-threading, with the i5 cut back in terms of clocks and L3 cache only. Although dubbed as an eighth-gen Core product, DDR4 memory bandwidth on all processors is limited to 2400MHz - very similar to the seventh-gen Kaby Lake. Base and boost clocks have been revealed, but in line with recent Intel spec reveals, the all-important all-core turbo speed for each product remains unknown for now (and may explain the difference between the i7 8706G and the 8705G, which look identical otherwise).

Star Citizen Dev Responds To Crytek Lawsuit, Says It Makes "Scandalous" Claims
Jan 08, 2018 - 4:50 PM - by Emabulator

GameSpot has the story.

Star Citizen developer Cloud Imperium Games has responded to the lawsuit brought against it by German developer and publisher Crytek. The company filed its suit last month with breach of contract and copyright infringement claims, principally over the game's use of Crytek's CryEngine. At the time, CIG said the claims were meritless, and now the studio has responded further with its own official filing in which it seeks to have the suit dismissed.

A motion filed recently and spotted by GI.biz begins by saying, "This action never should have been filed." It goes on to claim that Crytek's lawsuit "sacrifices legal sufficiency for loud publicity."

At the heart of the lawsuit is Crytek's claim that its agreement with CIG over the use of the CryEngine only covered Star Citizen and not Squadron 42, which Crytek says it believes is a completely separate game. In its response, CIG submitted a copy of its license agreement with Crytek that shows clearly that the company had a deal with Crytek that covered Star Citizen and its "related space fighter game," Squadron 42. Weirdly, the agreement refers to Star Citizen as "Space Citizen."

CIG's agreement with Crytek also says that Crytek gave CIG a global license to "exclusively embed CryEngine in the game." CIG claims that Crytek's interpretation of this line in particular is "tortured."

"Crytek contorts the word 'exclusively' to argue that the word means that CIG somehow is required to use the Engine in the game," CIG said. "The plain language of the GLA where the grant of rights to CIG appears, plus the well established concept of an exclusive license, instead establish that the word 'exclusively' simply means that CIG's right to use the Engine in the game is exclusive to CIG and Crytek may not give that right to anyone else."

Part of what appears to be angering Crytek is that CIG switched game engines from CryEngine to Amazon's Lumberyard back in 2016.

College Football Playoff: Who Ya Got?
Jan 08, 2018 - 10:47 AM - by IGXGamingTV

Tonight is essentially college football’s version of the “Super Bowl” and the stage is set for an SEC standoff between the Alabama Crimson Tide versus the Georgia Bulldogs. I have no dog in this fight, as my Florida Gators didn’t even make a bowl appearance, but I am glad to see a Southeastern Conference matchup between Georgia and Alabama. According to CBS Sports, the majority of the pundits are picking the Tide to win it, but I’m hoping for a Georgia upset. Alabama has recent victories, but Georgia hasn’t seen a title since 1983, according to the article. In any advent, I am hoping for a good game like last year’s match between Clemson and Alabama. Last college football game of the season, who ya got?

For the Bulldogs and their fans, this is an opportunity decades in the making. Georgia has not played for a national title since 1983 nor brought home the championship since 1980. The Crimson Tide, meanwhile, will be playing in their third straight title game and sixth over thel last nine seasons. Alabama is 4-1 in its previous five such games and defeated LSU 21-0 in that prior all-SEC meeting to win the 2011 title.

Fortnite Faces Service Issues After Intel Vulnerability Updates
Jan 06, 2018 - 2:17 PM - by Emabulator

GameSpot has the story.

Epic Games' Fortnite and Fortnite Battle Royale may see some service issues over the following days due to cloud updates. While you might be having some issues logging in or playing the game for a little while, the upside is your information will be more secure in the long term.

Announced via Twitter yesterday, Epic Games' cloud systems are lagging due to updates intended to address Intel's Meltdown vulnerability. The two titles may be impacted by these updates for as long as a week; Epic has not detailed if this is an exclusive problem to PC, or if it also affects consoles.

Monster Hunter: World 'Elder Dragons' Trailer, Final Beta & Free DLC Plans Announced
Jan 05, 2018 - 11:39 AM - by Evil Avatar

New Monster Hunter: World Trailer Introduces Elder Dragons, Plus DLC Details and Final Beta Revealed!

During a live stream in Japan today, Capcom announced new details and a trailer for the upcoming launch of Monster Hunter: World which is coming to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on January 26, 2018. This new trailer introduces several new and returning favorite Elder Dragons.

The steel dragon Kushala Daora is a beast with a body covered in metal plates and has the power to keep hunters at bay by generating wind storms around itself. The flame king dragon Teostra is a brutal fiend that spits blazing fire and any hunter who faces this fierce and deadly monster is in danger of being engulfed in a hellish inferno. Another monster introduced in the trailer is Dodogama, a rock-eating wyvern that possesses a unique saliva that causes rock to become explosive, a hazardous mix it will spit at its foes to warn off attackers.

Also confirmed today is a final beta planned for all PlayStation 4 users which will begin in North America on January 18 and will go through January 22. In addition to the previously released Great Jagras, Anjanath and Barroth quests, players will now be able to battle against the game’s terrifying and challenging flagship monster Nergigante.

Finally, Capcom today confirmed that there are plans for post-launch support of Monster Hunter: World with regular content updates, as well as major title updates for free. The first major title update will be coming in Spring 2018 which includes the addition of the fan-favorite monster Deviljho. Players will be able to put their hunting skills to the test against this brute. The Deviljho must feed constantly and will devour anything in its way, even feeding on the largest of monsters with its massive jowls. This wild beast really is one for only the bravest of hunters to take on!

Monster Hunter: World launches on January 26 for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One with a PC release coming later in Autumn 2018.
